The above is a link to the promo of a horror feature I was commissioned to write. Not sure if this project is still in the pipeline, so I figured I'd share the promo video. At least people get to see that.
By the way, I'm the guy driving the car.

Dustin, it looks like a lot of work (and people) went into that trailer. Some nifty editing and creepy images. And no-one averse to nudity. :D

They give you a reason it went no further?

Hey Dustin, I'm intrigued. Cool trailer even if a little vague as far as story goes. Total envy on my part for finding filmmakers that don't shy away from sex and gore.

Hope you get to see the final film someday.

I had a guy shoot Initiation, just a short, and make a trailer, then he dropped the project while in post. It was just about finished. Never heard from the guy again...  :-/

I'm not sure it isn't going further yet. The guy that put all that together has just been snapped up by Channel 4 so has less time for other projects. I've also worked on 2 shorts with the same director. I'd be happy just to work with the guy again, he's super talented.

This is pretty cool. I'd check out the full movie, for sure.

The house in the shot is still lived in by the family that own it. Not many places like that owned by a single person left in the country. It's set in over 200 hundred acres with its own wood and lake. Great place to shoot a horror.

I actually wrote two different versions, one with with a rich story and another just with lots of crazy shit going on with a thin storyline. If Ash does film this, knowing him, it will be a mash-up of both scripts with his own stuff thrown in. He's the type of director that makes writers look good. I think so, anyway. I'm hoping to share Farside soon which is a short film I worked on with him. It was, in fact, his story, I just put in some of my own ideas and turned it all into a screenplay. Always the best jobs!

Well - that was creepy! Well done!

Hope they finish it.

Keep us posted on the feature.

Cheers. I'm still waiting to pop my cherry with a feature. 3 features and a TV Pilot sold and nothing so far.

I was there for most of the day of filming but had to go home. I know they were there till midnight filming the scenes inside the house. There was stuff filmed that didn't make it in the promo. There was a doggy-style sex scene in the stable that never made it in, for example. There were lots of giggles before that was shot.

There were a couple of drone operators too. A lot definitely went into it. The actress in the lake actually did that and it wasn't exactly warm. There were at least five takes too.

WOW at the locations. Beautiful shots as well. A bit vague as to the story but full of mystery. Looks like a lot of work went into this. Hopefully they won't drop it.

Good luck with it.

That was a great trailer. Superb quality, editing and a proper creepy atmosphere vibe.

Thanks guys. The basic premise is of a cult where members worship an ancient witch who was originally burned on the land a few hundred years ago. Blah, blah, blah. I worked two separate stories into it... maybe it needs another.

Definitely looks like something I'd watch. Fantastic stuff.

Hope you got some money to write it. Hope one of your features gets made and you get paid. I want people to get paid, damn it :)

Yes, I've been paid. To be honest though, I'd rather have the film made.

But most of the time, they don't. So, it's good to make some money.

A lot of Hollywood screenwriters have 40-50 year careers with only one or two movies made.

I stopped doing the free stuff a couple of years ago. Although, I will still do something for free if the project is right. I work two writing jobs kinda full time at the moment... I'm freelance, so the work could end at any moment. Not like I'm set for life or anything, but I've been with both companies over a year. I adapt novels and movies into audio plays for one, the other job is writing cartoon scripts for an animation network.

I got paid to write a thriller for a 1st-time producer in Cali. Also paid to write a TV Pilot for a British rapper who now lives in Cali - I think he's keeping it in a drawer to show people. I  sold one of my own spec features - Repercussions, a few years ago. I've been paid to write shorts too.

I haven't written anything for myself in a while. The last opportunity I had was with The Libertine at the last OWC. I have lots of ideas churning around, just no real time to write them.

What happened with that? I read that one.

Absolutely nothing. There was a website at one point, and a casting call with a couple of attachments. Then it just died. Never heard from the guy again. I know also, because it's happened to me with a couple shorts, that some projects are actually completely filmed and then run out of funds for post-production. Other projects come up, things happen, people take the hit and move on.

Just watched the trailer.

It looks fantastic. Very creepy and atmospheric. Certainly, something I'd watch.

Good job, Dustin. Keep us posted. Hope it gets made.
