I scrolled through the last few years of threads and didn't notice one for this horror/thriller from 2016.

NO SPOILERS!

This has been on my Netflix list for a year or so and finally had a quiet night alone to thoroughly enjoy one of the biggest surprises in quite some time.

The screenplay is genius: One location, half dozen actors, minimal SFX, and an increasing sense of doom and gloom. Very original horror. This is an example of what will get picked up and produced. I think if it had a marketing budget when released, it would have made bank.

Give it a go. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Seconded. Very entertaining movie, and an inspiring one for screenwriters for the reasons you say.

Not quite as strong a movie, but this one always makes me think of Last Shift (2014). That was another one that flew under the radar and is similarly a tight, recognizable-but-fresh genre piece with an excellent limited-budget script.

Yeah, I enjoyed that too. Cool titles always catch my attention. If it has a smart title, chances are it's a smart story.

Wasn't a big fan of this one, but it did have some promise.

Too slow for me.

I liked it a lot. It's definitely one of my favorite recent (ish) horror films.

I saw this one at a film festival two or three years ago and I really liked it.

Andre Ovredal was there - he introduced the film - and the whole room erupted in applause when it finished.

If I recall right, the script made the Black List and/or the Blood List.

I thought the script was great. Films was pretty good too, but not as good as the script.

I thought this was pretty terrific. I watched it on a whim and haven't seen it in some time (something I'm not alone in, I don't expect). I think it's a mark of the film's quality that I still remember it at this point.

It's worth considering one is probably most likely to catch it on Netflix or some other streaming service, perhaps after a lengthy, perhaps bored/disinterested browse. In that sense, it more than delivers. Proper actors, good production value, and a sense that the filmmakers took the project seriously. The plot isn't bad, but it's somewhat a dime a dozen. In a sense, the film didn't need to be as good as it was, and I think that makes it a cut above the rest in its ilk.

Will be sure to check out the film. Just read the script which I apparently downloaded years ago but I swear I'd never read it. Great writing. This is the kind of good, simple, clever premise that works. I wish I could do that!

Is there a way to share the script? I'd love to read it.

Loved this one. Brilliant how they kept everything in that one location and kept pushing the tension up... that's very hard to do...
