Interesting :)

I feel like I'm ready for another change. The night sweets and PTSD from the WT has finally subsided.

Haha! So Warren, that's what it takes to win.   :D

... And we can post on this thread now, which means something's afoot.   8)

That and several hours of crying in the fetal position when my scripts got a bad review.

I've heard that some people like that sort of thing.

Looks like a road warrior theme

Magician themes, I say. Illusionists. Circus acts from hell.
Chances are though, it's just another ghost story. Maybe a ghost story with a magician.

Nothing to see here...

Then why am I seeing things? Holy crap. I"m seeing things!

Seriously, things have been seen. Like, multiple things. Here.

Somebody help me, I'm kinda freakin' out.

Ooh, I'm seeing things too, PK... In fact, I just noticed someone we know has just had OWC Mod added to their name. I don't think it was there before...

I believe the song choice may have been a slight hint in regards to that possibility... =)

And I go on my holidays at the end of this week - DOH! So looks like I am probably out unless it becomes a Sept challenge lol!

:P

We're doing something we've never done before. It might be a little complicated, but if it works it'll be great...

Just saw Queen - great concert!

So...a road trip...a radio.

hmmm

The original clue was a hint that it was me.

This new one is the first about the actual challenge.  ;)

Hmmm

Perhaps a scripted podcast or radio show.
Posted by: LC, August 19th, 2019, 6:33pm; Reply: 20
Oh wow, I hope it's not what I think it is. That would be a challenge and a half. Hear no evil.

Rick, I for one am ready for the next clue...

Posted by: LC, August 20th, 2019, 4:48am; Reply: 24
That was fast...

Okay, this one's thrown me.  Will think on it after dinner, but yep, that's chucked my previous theory out the window.

The effect of increased fog on crops in India = climate change, the future?  ::)
Posted by: Scar Tissue Films, August 20th, 2019, 5:03am; Reply: 25
What was your last theory?
Posted by: LC, August 20th, 2019, 5:59am; Reply: 26
Sorry for the delay, eating dinner. :)

I figured 'Metropolis' might be the influence - futurism, robotics, androids, either silent movie or radio play. Hmm, climate change as catalyst could still be in the works.

Or, I might be way off.
Posted by: Scar Tissue Films, August 20th, 2019, 6:13am; Reply: 27
Another clue:

Pareidolia.

The tendency to interpret a vague stimulus as something known to the observer, such as seeing shapes in clouds, seeing faces in inanimate objects or abstract patterns, or hearing hidden messages in music.

I was thinking of retro-futurism as well. The news report reminded me that Freddie Mercury was Indian.

But the hidden messages part threw me. Was Queen caught up in all that backwards-masking hysteria in the 80s?

Hmmm. Going off the clues you've provided thus far... I'm gonna say this OWC will be... horror set in a summer camp.

Nailed it! ;D ;D

"The history of man is in large part the chronicle of his quest for food," wrote Ancel Keys, an early researcher in obesity.

The concept seems to be circling around hearing but not seeing, with a possible reference to the fog of war.
Posted by: DustinBowcot (Guest), August 20th, 2019, 10:55am; Reply: 36
Dystopian future?
Posted by: LC, August 21st, 2019, 2:24am; Reply: 37
Flummoxed with all the variants.

So, give us another teaser, Rick.  :D
Posted by: Scar Tissue Films, August 21st, 2019, 3:38am; Reply: 38
I don't know what else to say.

It will only make it more confusing!

I will simply say that is not retro futurism and that nothing in the original, or the Queen video relates to content.

Conversely everything afterwards (except references to Brexit in the Martial law post) does relate to content.

Also, one could try rearranging the posts into some kind of narrative order.
Posted by: LC, August 21st, 2019, 4:43am; Reply: 40
Okay, hang on, I'll just get Frank...  ;D

Martial law, fog (weather affecting crops),the quest for food, pareidolia /hidden messages (ha! there's irony in that clue).

I'd say: the world going to hell in a handbasket, survival...

I dunno.

P.S. Not in order. I don't want to make it easy for others. ;)
Posted by: FrankM, August 21st, 2019, 6:51am; Reply: 41
Eh, let’s see (or not with all this damned fog).

The fog and the lyrics to Radio Ga Ga deal with the lack of being able to see.

The fog had effects on the crops that farmers mis-interpreted. Pareidolia is all about mis-interpretations, and farmers are all about the quest for food.

Attack a big problem incorrectly for long enough, it might lead to martial law.

That’s not really clicking together seamlessly for me.

Global Fogging?

Fog get bout it!

My entry is coming together nicely.

A blind man, hungry for breakfast, stumbles into a London Fog store thinking it's a bakery. Reaching for a "loaf of bread" he bumps his head on a clothing rack. His sight partially returns.

Unfortunately, he misinterprets the incoming images and he misreads a gathering crowd (Queen is holding an outdoor concert) as an invasion.

Here's the twist... HE'S THE PRIME MINISTER... (minds blown)... and he quickly orders Marshal law into affect. The economy crashes and a dystopian future is ushered in.

I think I can do it in 3 pages.

Rick, when can we expect an announcement?
Posted by: Scar Tissue Films, August 23rd, 2019, 3:14am; Reply: 46
I'm ready to go, just waiting for the greenlight from big Don.
Posted by: Scar Tissue Films, August 23rd, 2019, 3:22am; Reply: 47
Do we normally have a countdown for these things?

I can't remember how it works..
Posted by: LC, August 23rd, 2019, 3:53am; Reply: 48
Ooh...

I think you can tease when you're going to announce it.  :D
The Countdown clock usually comes into effect when you blow the whistle - Don puts it up I think.

Here's the April OWC announcement.

https://www.simplyscripts.net/cgi-bin/Blah/Blah.pl?b-April2019/m-1555025766/s-0/

I only post that cause that's a typical time of day for announcement, but sometimes it's announced earlier - time zone differences etc.

Looking forward to seeing what it is!

P.S. That actually just listed the finish time, didn't it? Oh well, will leave it in your capable hands. Is everyone up yet in the U.S.? Probably too early yet.

I will potentially have too much on my plate to have a go at this one.

Will see if the topic is too good to pass up.

The East Coast is 5 hours behind us in the UK and the West 8 hours. So it's around 0530 NY and 0230 Cali.

I'll probably be the same. I'm away for four days next week from Tuesday morning to Friday night. Then I have work to do when I get back on a very complicated video script.

Shame, but gives the rest of us a chance at least.

Although I have no idea if I will have the time... it depends how much I am able to skive off work and write it in the office. (I really hope I can make some money from writing before the boss finds out how little I do at work and fires me)

OK. I will release the info today, then we can start the proceedings proper tomorrow.

Is that OK, or is that too short notice?

It's designed to be a two week thing because the first week will require discussiins/debates...
