Did anyone watch last night?

AHS has been hit or miss the last few years, IMO, but I thought the first episode of 1984 started out pretty good. Very 80s horror feel to it. I'm looking forward to next week.  :)

PS: I suck at reviews...   :D

The show is very hit or miss. Mostly miss. But this season seems like it was made for me. ;D

The way this is setup  right now, I'll probably keep with it. I was slightly disappointed with one element regarding the real life serial killer Richard Ramirez, which I felt unnecessary, (and factually incorrect --he wasn't called "Night Stalker" until 1985) and played by a different actor than season five. There are so far also bits of dialog which sounds more contemporary than the early 80s.

80s nostalgia is fine; they don't need to reference everything. but the premise. Look--most of the Friday The 13th flicks were 90 minutes or less*. Some of those films had chunks of scenes where people would just walk around, calling for another (probably dead) character.  Due to fast production times, the filmmakers cut corners and had filler scenes. Sure, that's part of the appeal - but again, we are talking about 980 minutes or less, not a TV series running X amount of episodes. There's only so much you can take a thin plot. Adding a ghost, two killers (or three, if you count Ramirez) makes it interesting but only to a point.

*my favorite Friday The 13th film is part 6; my favorite monsters in the woods film is Pumpkinhead.

Anyone else been keeping up with 1984? I'm loving it so far. Some pretty crazy twists. Surprisingly, Mr. Jingles has become my favorite character in the entire season. His backstory is just so tragic. I'm really hoping he comes out on top at the end.

Wasn't a big fan of the ghost shit at first, but it's really starting to come into it's own. Can't wait to see how this plays out.

I've watched every season of AHS. Some I've loved, some not so much.

I gave up on 1984 after two episodes, something I've never done before on this show. I was a fan of Slasher 80's horror films in the '80s but I've grown up since then. The homage factor was nice at first but it felt like they'd pretty much covered everything in the first episode.

With the second episode, the cheesy acting and predictability become too much for me. I can see the first twist about 'who the killer really is' coming a mile off. Maybe I'm wrong but I just couldn't continue. Not with so many quality TV shows available right now.

The ghosts aspect was ripped right out of season one, which seemed cheap to me.

So for those who stuck around, did it get any better or was it just more of the same?

@Zack and DarrenJamesSeeley - when films were 90 minutes or less. Those were the days!
