I'll bite, Mr Clark.
What's up? You going to leave a metaphorical trail of bread crumbs for us...?
Posted by: SAC, October 1st, 2019, 8:50am; Reply: 2
Okay. First clue...
Halloween

That's way too specific! How can we possibly write to that???

Libby, that is a good challenge but I didn’t look back that far. Honest. I just like Charlie Brown and that’s how Snoopy started off all his stories. ;D

Not to worry, Kham. I’ll be spilling clues like deer droppings in the woods.

I know, don't worry, Steve, I didn't think you were repeating an OWC. I get that it's an archetype intro to set the mood. I was just trying to prove to myself I wasn't going nutty in connection with past OWCs. I've always been a little OCD.
Hey, good to see you at the helm of this one! Looking forward to seeing what you got.

Dang dang dang. I'm heading to Nashville on the 5th for the festival so that's me out again. :-(

Hell yeah! Can't wait to see what you've got in store for us, Dude. ;D
Posted by: khamanna, October 1st, 2019, 10:34am; Reply: 12
Deer droppings. Hmm... Deer lives in the woods. So, Halloween, night. And should we think woods?
Posted by: SAC, October 1st, 2019, 12:28pm; Reply: 13
It can go one of two ways. Either you announce that the genre is horror and the challenge is to write a slasher in the woods. Or you announce a different genre and challenge. Either way, I'll figure out a way to have people being stalked and killed in the woods. :P
Just kidding. Whatever you choose to do, I'm sure it's gonna be awesome. ;D

Well, things have changed around here :D ... best of luck Steven.
Just ignore the Liverpool supporter - he’s riding a wave of feel good :K) doesn’t know what he’s saying!
Otherwise, it’s good to see the Halloween OWC
I hope by brain switches back on to writing, as this was always fun...of sorts. I have a fond memory of a gothic horror OWC
Let’s see what Friday brings.

I picture this epic battle where the whole world stops when the two super heroes twist their way up to the clouds locked in a fierce fight to the finish. Only with words.
Maybe next time.

'Twas The night Before Samhain, when all through the haunted house all kinds of creepy creatures were stirring not just a stupid mouse. goblets of blood displayed with care in hopes that a goblin or ghost would soon be there. Children out treatin' and dressed like the dead visions of candy goods dancing in their heads...

I do hope it isn't a killer in the woods thing. been there, done that.Okay, maybe a scarecrow in a cornfield ...

Steve, is your latest avatar a big ol clue?
Are any more teasers forthcoming?
Posted by: SAC, October 3rd, 2019, 8:02am; Reply: 46
No, avatar is not a clue. Just in keeping with the season and also a shot from my personal favorite vampire movie, Near Dark.

Hi Steve
Do you know time the criteria will be released?
It would great to see it Friday night, uk time, rather than wait till Saturday, but I guess it’s hard to balance this out.
I used to think that it would be fair to make this a OWC plus 6 hours challenge to help those in different time zones.
All the best with being a mod - often a thankless task !
Cheers
Bill

Ha. I'm slow. I saw the lines and thought is was a clue that the challenge will include a secret path of some sort...
Didn't realize it's pointing to his avatar.
Doh.
Your brain works like that too, huh? My brother

Ooh, nice little spooky-vibed OWC invite Don mailed out. Open to all comers too which'll mean probably a gazillion reads.
And Zack, it most definitely is Friday in Oz already. Looks like the usual Saturday announcement for us. :) I don't have a good track record for horror. That's not horror! I wish it was a RomCom. ::)

Just found this and looks like I saw it at a good time.
I look very forward to the hate I will receive in advance, and hope you all enjoy my feedback.

The Jeff contreversy is always one of my favorite parts of these OWCs. ;D ;)

Don't be modest, Libby. You already know you're gonna kill it. ;D
I can't wait any longer. I'm gonna fuckin' pop. Steven, another hint! I needs it.

Maybe some song lyrics this time?
Posted by: Zack, October 3rd, 2019, 6:30pm; Reply: 63
Are we allowed to guess? I wanna see how horribly wrong I am. :)
Fuck it, I'm guessing anyways.
It's a Halloween party on the beach theme, genre horror. Not sure how deer dropping factor in... But that's the challenge! Nailed it. ;D

Hey bud I always look forward to your feedback especially when you shit on Clark's script ;D But the son of a gun is running the show this time so he gets off nicely...
If you could get to page 2 on mine that would be great :)

Horror, deer droppings, dear droppings, and Bob Seger. This is going to be an interesting month. ;D

I thought you tried to depict a snake. A Halloween snake.
Ah, well that's your obsession with horror and snakes, Kham, as in your last horror feature, and also Pareidolia which Rick mentioned as a clue in the fog themed podcast - apophenia, which is a more generalized term for seeing patterns in random data.
*Hear no evil, Steve?

Oh, I probably will have to skip this one. My daughter had to spend two weeks at a hospital which was two hours away from me. I had to travel there and am very tired. Additionally, I just got a new job and am tired in advance. Besides my daughter needs me for her recovery.
I realize I could have just said the timing is not good for me. Or not say anything at all.
Actually, yes - its not the best time for me. So, there, Im not even gonna share why Im not writing for this one.
I may read a few though. Or even more. Good luck to all! And lets hope Steven doesnt suddenly bail out before posting tomorrow just to see our long faces. Your long faces I mean, I cant write for this one.

How do you know so many obsessions and phobias?

Sorry to hear all that, Kham.
Seems you and Rick and I have had to do the exhaustive hospital runs this year. It does really take its toll. Hope your daughter is on the mend.

Weird. The latter was using: Jeff. There's a ghost in the machine. Whoo!
Think it has something to do with usernames and display names? - for example, if you quote Zack, what is actually written is Zack_M._Akers - but it displays as simply Zack.
Either that or we have uncovered Jeff's alter ego...
Back to topic.
I haven't really followed the clues that well, but we have The Scream by Edvard Munch, deer droppings in woods, and hands covering ears....
So, theme is - In the woods, no one can hear you scream when you step in deer poop

Quoted from Jeffrey
lalala
Yep, I get the Matt, but you still should be able to quote a person called Jeff, surely. Jeffrey works cause obviously it's not linked with another moniker.
Anyway, enough of that.

Your "code" name on the boards is the one you got when you first signed up. You can change your user name as many times as you want, but the original "code" name remains the same. Mine is Me for example. I've had several user names since then.
Warren it just said the October OWC is coming this Friday. It's not like Carson where there are long newsletters that come regularly. Maybe once or twice every year to alert you to something. Don't panic, you haven't missed anything. :)

The announcement timer popped up while I was reading these comments, so now we know when.
Steve, using your avatar as clues sucks. I only see the latest one for all of the previous hints, and let me just say, I looked really hard for that umbrella in the party clean-up picture.

Well, hopefully I am now. Thanks for that.
Weird, as I've always received these in the past.
I see you, Paul, Warren, and a few more as new subscribers. You should get another newsletter just after the theme is announced.
I hope.

I dunno. I kinda like the whole “lost in translation” thing.
