Not sure where I heard of this little tale or if I just stumbled upon the trailer somewhere but...OMG...the best 71 minute film I've seen in ages! Possibly ever.

Basically a one man show, a medieval bounty hunter of trolls and goblins. You'll be blown away at what you can do with a $30k budget!

The world building is created so skillfully and yet without much effort. Not sure if there are even 100 words spoken in the entire film. It was on sale on Vudu last week for $4.99 so I couldn't pass it up. I just may watch it again tonight ;D

I saw it when it came out. I expected more.

It got a little repetitive for me, even with the short runtime, but I really enjoyed the first and last twenty minutes or so. Definitely an impressive use of budget, and a major step forward for the director of the ThanksKilling franchise.

Edit: Couldn't stop thinking about the "71 minute film" comment. The best 71 minute film is Frankenstein!

Bride of Frankenstein is also rather short, under 80 min. Some of those old movies, are short. The Set-up, another great movie is like 75 min.

Some modern movies that are under 80 mins, include Rambo 4, which is like 70+ mins, followed by 15 min of credits. I think Run Lola Run is also under 80 mins. Christopher Nolan's The Following is like 68 mins or something like that.

Good call on Frankenstein. I just showed that to my daughter last week. How quickly I forget. It still holds up after all these years.

Demento: proving you can make an impact without long running times. Christopher Nolan was remarkably restrained with Dunkirk but Interstellar ran too long imh. Tarantino gets carried away with himself too.  Two hours is usually my limit and then I start getting fidgety.

Trolls and goblins? Not usually my thing but I'll take a look. Thanks for the recommendation, John.

If this movie was shot on film it would have a much higher ashetic value. The digital, crisp look, hurts it. It just looks cheap.

Agreed. High contrast with a grainy tone would do wonders.

I had heard so many good things, I went in very excited, but left not very happy.

For me, too many things that were brought up, were never remotely explained...and they could have been so easily to give this a bigger feel, which it needed.

It's a true testament what can be done with almost no budget, but once the makers understood this, I think they could have gone a few more steps to make something truly memorable.

As for the finale, I didn't really like it, and it left me feeling rather cold and indifferent about the whole movie.
