On the same day Joaquin wins an Oscar for a DC film I watched this abomination. Another 5 steps back for DC.

The plot of the film is men bad, women of all colours good. That's pretty much it. I'm all for equality and representation but this film is so damn woke it just destroys the entire thing.

Not sure why it was called Birds of Prey, as a unit they barely feature, it's Harley Quinn's film.

The exposition is also laid on thick. Just nothing to like here. Don't waste your money.

I was spot on with my pre-release premonition: High hopes with equally high doubts. I can never go wrong with that gut feeling;)

Thanks for taking the bullet for the rest of us.

Can never understand why they didn’t make Harley Quinn look like she is portrayed in the Batman Arkham games!  The pictures I’ve seen of the actress in this film and Suicide Squad make her look like some spoilt schoolgirl.

Any film with the word "Fantabulous" in its title should be warning enough to stay away.

Suicide Squad was pants but I've actually heard some good things about this. Would never pay money to go see it though.

My mileage is very low for superhero films but aren't even the most ardent of fans getting fatigued by now?

I'm just going to leave this here. A review from one of the channels I subscribe to on YouTube.

SPOILERS - not that there is anything to really spoil.

This is by far the best thing to come out of the film, enjoy :)

I watched it and enjoyed it to some extent, certainly more than Suicide Squad. The VO exposition was what annoyed me from a writing perspective. I'd get murdered if I wrote stuff like that.

It used cool action scenes and extra loud music to try and hide the fact there wasn't much substance to the story or characters but it wasn't terrible.

For me, it took awhile (maybe too long) to find its rhythm.  I had no problem with some of the action (I did like the police station raid...a parody of The Terminator, perhaps?) and the film is told from the POV of Quinn, so some events call for exaggeration.  My major disappointment is that...well...The "Birds" (especially Mary Winstead's Huntress) don't really do much until the last fifteen to twenty minutes.
