I'm sharing this as I always do... but I'm suspicious from the off due to the pushing of Blockchain (who knew we needed it)... and the fact that the signup wants to know my Race.

But make of it what you will...

(apols if I missed a thread on this already)

I'm a massive crypto fan. POS= Free money. It's a beautiful thing.

The film world is absolute desperate for a decentralised streaming service, Imo. It's the only possible hope for independents.

I love the smart contracts on this as well... You don't have to worry about copyright infringement.

I didn't worry about them in the first place, so Blockchain seems overkill to me...

Have you signed up Scar?

Yes.

Interesting.  Wonder how they make money

I wondered the same Dave, but refused to signup due to the Race question... may Scar can enlighten us?

This analytics creative combo stuff makes my head spin.

The race question?

I'm a cynic at heart but will try to remain open minded.

You have to pay for everything.

Writers pay a small price to host. Industry pros have to pay a monthly subscription fee.

"Our goals are to have as many scripts shown and purchased by industry professionals as possible. After speaking with many writers, we were told that hosting price is just as important as hosting platforms features. To help more writers in their discovery process, we felt a script should not cost more than one cup of coffee to host".

They also seem to offer a coverage service.

Thanks.

Not for me then

Yeah, I signed up, but that's as far as it'll go for me.

I was hoping it would be crypto based....so people could send tips and such in BAT or other currencies if they liked the script.

This site should start accepting BAT by the way....

If you use Brave browser, you earn money just for being on the internet, and you can dole out tips to websites or blogs etc, but the website needs to enable it.

A site that charges Producers???

Are these different Producers to the ones that are inundated with scripts both solicited and unsolicited?

As a business model I can't see this flying for long!

Yup

What they're trying to sell is specificity (for want of a better word)... The producer can input very specific requirements, and seeing as it's all on block chain, it can scour the database for scripts conforming exactly to those requirements.

I'm sure they mean well enough, and I like the look of the site, but it's just another site selling pipe dreams, I fear.

I think they've invented a solution for a problem that doesn't exist... and want Producers to pay for it.

Inktip, Script Revolution, Blacklist all have filtering to some degree or another, without charging Producers.

And Agents will be only to happy to find you a script that meets specific requirements, it's how they make a living.

I get the idea of the specificity BUT i'm not sure any Producer wants more than a great story, in a specific genre, below a certain budget.

I might see if I can arrange an interview with them ;-)

Be interesting to see if they last.

They came back to me on my complaint about Race been part of the signup process, apparently they are 'taking it into consideration'... whatever that means.

Good on you, Anthony!

Thanks for checking this out Anthony. I do agree with everything you've said and I won't be spending any bitcoin, Vbuck or whatever with them.

Okay - going to test the site.

Loaded two scripts. No harm there since they are scripts on the internet already.

No fee requested yet. I expect one coming. Obviously, will not pay.

We'll see.

I don't care much for this sort of thing but opportunity can arise from anywhere, I suppose. I took a look at their website and they seem to have put some time and effort in. That suggests to me that they're legit.

I suppose sites like this aim more at the dreaming hobbyist. Hobbies cost money... why not spend it with them? If nothing comes from it then it's only the same as the nothing that comes from money spent elsewhere.

I won't pay for it. I'll let you all know if any benefits come from  it.

Probably not even that. I've tested the search function - it's horrible. The one at Script Revolution is far more robust - and even the search categories they have are odd. Their advanced search feature allows you to search on 4 categories: Character Name, Dialogue (like a line of dialogue), Scene Location, Description/Action. Basically nonsense stuff rather than page count, budget, etc.  Plus the search function sucks. 80% of the script I submitted takes place in an office. When I search for office in scene locations no results are returned.

It looks to me like a collecting a lot of scripts in a data base and then determining what to do with it.

I can see a service here for Production companies (assuming the search feature was better). I could see them charging a fee for scanning and loading all scripts a production company receives, creating rational data  points and search features and having the company use that as a tool to prioritize their reads.

But for writers - meh.

The CEO responded to my Facebook post and support email querying the Race question... and they've now added a 'Prefer not to say' option!

Yay! And the CEO... Good job, Anthony.

I like the stats it generates about the scripts I uploaded - it highlights whether you’ve focussed too much I dialogue vs action description or vice verse. Plus it tells you which of your characters swear the most, which is entertaining.

That you can't figure that on your own is the more worrying aspect.

Of course I could. I wouldn't normally make a pie graph of it though...
