Thanks to Warren for the shout out for this flick.  Although I was aware it was available on Netflix, I never even watched a trailer.

This pegged as a horror movie. It's shot and played out much like a horror movie.  It's not a horror movie, though.

So, first, let's discuss Helen Hunt.  I've always liked her, but haven't seen her in quite a long time.  Like everyone else, when I started watching this, I was shocked at her appearance.  She's turning 57 next month, so let's not say she's so old, because she's really not.  What the Hell happened to her looks?  I can't confirm any face work she's had done, but I'd bet Dave's left nut that she had surgery and it did not go well.  She looks "odd" to say the least, and it's really a shame, as she used to be so cute...and natural.  Those days are gone...long gone.

This is a "different" movie, to say the least.  It is so far away from the typical 3 act structure, it's crazy...or is it?

In reality, there is a very somewhat standard structure here, but it doesn't play out that way, as we really get to watch things from 2 completely different perspectives, and once we veer to that 2nd perspective, it's quite jarring...to the pint where I wondered if I had fallen asleep and a completely different movie had started.

I won't add any spoilers about this, but to me, it was a nice change of pace and a creative masterstroke.

OK, back to the genre.  Yeah, in many ways, this plays out like horror, but alot of that is due to the way it's filmed and those 2 completely different perspectives we get to watch.

Sure, as in most movies like this, there's alot that may not make great sense or even be plausible, but just check that at the door, go in as blind as you can, and sit back and enjoy the ride.

Things are not what you may think they are and this movie's success is tied to that.

For me, this is a great film to study and think about, in terms of the writing and the story that is actually here.  It makes you think about the reality that in both life and in movie scripts, things are always going on behind the visual scene - things that are very important - but many times, things that aren't shown or seen.

I really enjoyed this movie and will be watching again, to see what I may have missed the first time around.

Grade - A-

I just saw it as well. It was Okay. It was much better than I expected. It tried to do something somewhat unconventional. So, I will always give props for that. I kinda felt more could be done, but it was fine for what it was.

If someone is into mysteries and horror, this is not a bad way to spend 90 min. However, it's more of a thriller than anything.
