SimplyScripts Screenwriting Discussion Board  /  Writing Opportunities and Call for Scripts  /  Scriptbook - another submission - another

So I submitted Relentless - the last of my scripts to script book. I wanted to see if a more tradional crime drama would score better.

My base score was a 6 again - seems they are all around there.

I failed miserably in gender as two of my three females had male nicknames - one was SAM - short for Samantha. One was Charli - a young female Asian assistant.

As far as likability - my hero was only 63% - I expected low as he is deeply troubled and flawed. But he is redeemed in the end - guess that doesn’t count.
What I didn’t expect -
Abigail - the chief protagonist - kills her parents in cold blood and she was in the mid fifties. Should’ve had her kill the dog too and she would have been the hero. Lol

J.R. - the progenitor was the previous case is the most appalling character I’ve ever written. He’s kill two ex wives with no remorse and brags about it. He manipulates anybody and everything for his own musings. It was even written in the character intro that he relishes in causing mental anguish.
And he’s as high as Abigail.

Charli who’s innocent and always optimistica Nd trying to help scored 23% -
Sam - the hero’s ex wife who saves his life more than once is lower than both Abigail and J.R.

This has taught me one thing - I’m not at writing for a computer audience - Know your strengths.

I've just been told that the ScriptBook CEO is doing a webinar this afternoon with Digital Media Wire to discuss the technology behind the site.

I've also been told that my script, 60 FEET UNDER, will be discussed as a case study.

Anyone interested can check it out at 12p Pacific, or online after it's concluded.

Good interview.

And I don't say that just because the first 20 minutes spends a great amount of time on the analysis for my script. :)

If anybody cares, the full interview will be posted at the link above, probably by tomorrow.

Oh, and, ScriptBook is working toward launch of a new feature (talked about in the interview) which uses AI to "assist" screenwriters in writing a script.

You put in a bunch of parameters and then ask the AI to write either the next line, or the next scene. It's intended to help you get unstuck... or to help you brainstorm new possibilities.

You even tell it... I'm writing in the style of "10 Cloverfield Lane" and it will match the style/tone.  Not available yet. But, they're working on it.

Anyone interested:

https://www.dewexpo.com/webinar-video-library

The first part talks about the existing service/history/goals.

The second part talks about the work they're doing on developing a co-creation tool to help writers get unstuck.

I'll be interested in hearing what everyone thinks about the coming writing tool.

Thanks for posting the link,  Paul.  I did get a chance to watch.

I have no qualms with them as they are free and some data is useful. I do they think they are way over their skies. To date - they still only have 230 scripts in their database, including many already produced, so not sure that anyone is knocking at their doors.

The AI storytelling feature was not impressive to me. The scene that was generated was garbage.

But again - I'll never complain about a site that is free.

They need a success story to promote: A sale. (Best if that sale also leads to a produced film that meets or exceeds their projections.)

I'd like to help in that regard. :)
