Who are your favourite screenwriters with large filmographies, and which screenwriters would you consider their contemporary counterparts in terms of style and quality of writing, genres and themes explored?

My favourites are:

Stanley Kubrick = Yorgos Lanthimos
The Coen Brothers = Jeremy Saulnier and Macon Blair
Paul Thomas Anderson = The Safdie Brothers
Quentin Tarantino = S. Craig Zahler
David Lynch = David Robert Mitchell and Robert Eggers

Not sure of large filmography abound, however, these are but a few writers/directors or ‘just writers’ that seem to keep me entranced with screenwriting. My take is a little different on yours, but I think both (opinions) are valid re: counterpart analysis.

David Lynch = David Cronenberg
Shane Black = Mary Harron (for American Psycho)
Alex Garland = Ridley Scott
Charlie Kaufman = The Coen Brothers

Oh, and the overrated Quentin Tarantino = any and all shills who like to celebrate and worship the Hollywood Elite by creating bloodbath/satanic ritual bullshit. No offense to peeps who dig him, just my own dumb-ass opinion of course.
