Just seen this via Infolist email... the instructions look a little confusing so careful when registering...

I'm always suspicious of anything which goes to such lengths to promote a free service.  If any of you try this, let us know how you get on.

I've registered Mark, will let you know when they open the site properly and what it's like.

Right so I've added my first script to Script Hop, easy process, it goes some simple analysis as part of the upload process, grabbing data on page length, number of scenes, characters etc.

You can then add logline, synopsis (short and long versions) and additional character info if you like. This is then added to your Catalog... which I assume I can now add more to.

You can also add Bio type info to the site too.

The site and process is pretty easy and verging on the painless. The only bit I  didn't get was a page before the screenplay was processed where it asked me to list actors I had in mind for the roles, but I couldn't figure out how to add them... fortunately the site itself describes this bit as 'for fun' so I just skipped it.

So I now have one script on the site... I'm not entirely sure what happens next or if I'm now supposed to do something more...

I've also added a script to Script Hop, the series pilot Kord that got a lot of useful feedback when I posted it here as a WIP eons ago. (Today I learned that WIP threads on SS get culled after a while.)

It correctly identified the script as "for TV" and "fantasy." I have some quibbles with who it thought were major vs. minor characters, but it's an ensemble cast so it's probably more my fault than the algorithm's.

There are places to enter a lot of supporting information like a synopsis, series bible, character descriptions, locations, budget wild-ass-guess, etc. I copied bits of the series bible to populate most of that stuff. Once I have a proper long synopsis of their target length (4K-6K characters), I'll post the link so people can see what it looks like.

The system does try to pull out representative quotes for each character. I think it pulls out the longest, but at least you can edit the suggestions.

As promised, here is a link to a more-or-less filled-in packet for a TV pilot.

Let me know what you think, and if this looks like it'd be a helpful tool for screenwriters. ScriptHop's own spin is that writing your own synopsis lets the reader focus on understanding and analyzing your story. Just not sure I did a good job of writing a synopsis.

I happened to have a small amount of artwork done for the series bible, so I sprinkled bits of that everywhere. A section for concept art is slated as a future feature (not that I have any).

Okay - finally got around to loading several scripts.

I have no idea if this site has industry value or not - BUT - it's pretty cool. It gives a great presentation of your scripts. Me likey.

I don't know how long it takes to get them, but I have five invitation codes if anyone is interested in taking the site for a spin.

It is free, but I think they’re trying to limit how many can jump on the servers at once and simultaneously prod some free word of mouth. A lot of free services start out that way, last one I was in that early with was Gmail.

It's a really cool presentation of your work, Frank. As Dave mentioned, it's yet to be seen if the site has industry value, but it'd be interested to hear what comes from your work going forward. Keep us posted.

Sorry, real life has been hectic lately.

The site now appears to be open for anyone to make an account.
