At least I don't think I'm dead...  :-/

I just wanted to reach out and say hi to everyone. I've been having a rough few months with work and home and covid, and the death of a close friend on top of all that put me in a deep funk. Being a house husband and mostly solo parenting has been as much as I've been able to manage for a while. But I'm still here, still lurking at times, and still fighting the good fight.

I've been creatively stagnant for most of this time, but I forced myself to enter the NYCMidnight Screenplay Competition. It's basically a professional OWC but you get 48 hours instead of a week. The tight deadline worked to push me to write, and I'm happy to say I made it past the elimination rounds into the semi-finals. I find out in three weeks if I'm in the final round, but I've already achieved my goals, so I consider it a win already.

I'll post the scripts when the dust settles. In the meantime, I'm trying to get back on the horse outside of the NYC challenge, which is why I'm saying hi now. Baby steps.

Ah, Rene!

So sorry to hear about your friend, that's gotta be rough. I really feel for you.

Happy to see you're on the up though, mate. We have to do everything we can to look after ourselves during these crappy times and sometimes it's not easy. What's that saying about putting your oxygen mask on first before you can help others?  Keep doing what you're doing and great to see you did something for yourself creatively to get out of the doldrums, and by the sounds of it did it really well.  :D

Looking forward to reading the script.

Aa sorry about your friend. 2020 wasn't kind to so many.
It's good to have simplyscripts friends who care and sympathize.
