I don't write great reviews, so I won't be doing one. I'm just simply going to highly recommend this Ken Burns new documentary series. Whether you like Hemingway or not, I think you will appreciate this series. They say cats have nine lives. I think Hemingway had at least twenty. What an incredible life he lived! Add to all his adventure, his personal turbulent life. If you think of yourself as a writer, you will recognize a lot of the things he struggled with. In the end of course, he took his own life and I'd be lying to you if I said I wasn't getting some weird watery substance in my eyes. I didn't recognize it at first...

Anyway, Hemingway, a must watch, IMO and something that I will most likely watch again and maybe even again after that.

PS: I bet Netflix and Amazon and all the other BIG BOYS are scrambling to come out with the best TV series about him.

Glad to hear.  I have a love/hate relationship with Hemingway.  I've recorded the series and will mos def give it a look based on your review.

Apparently they started working on this project before the MeToo movement and toxic masculinity and all that stuff, so they had to make some adjustments to the show. I'm not sure what they did, but I can probably kinda guess.

Finished the first episode.

I found it fascinating - A+

My wife found it - just okay.

It may be a writer thing - I will definitely watch it all. Not sure my wife will.

I'm halfway through the last episode and despite the long run time, this series has been absolutely consuming.

I went in knowing very little about Hemingway, now a couple of his books, and several of his short stories are on my reading list.

How he got to the age he did is an absolute miracle.

I felt so sad when he took himself out.

I thought it was great too.  Now my life seems rather dull. Oh well, I can always go paint some more on the house...  ;D

Haha I feel exactly the same way, what a life, and what a legacy.
