Sweet...

I really have no clue this time, but here goes:

Rene Claveau (ReneC) - Discovery
David C. Lambertson (eldave1) - Fatal Distraction
John Staats (JEStaats) - I Can't Get No Satisfaction
Zack Akers (Zack) - Off The Record
Steven Clark (SteveClark) - Last Call
Khamanna Iskandarova (Khamanna) - Telling Someone "I Love You"
L. Chambers (LC) - Poor Bastard

Matthew generally nails these.

I don't want to state the obvious but Last Call - well I think we all know who wrote that one.

And hey, Stevie didn't write anything? Someone. stepped on his territory with I Can't Get No Satisfaction

Just want to say, good going, Kham. You and I wrote one for the female contingent! Good on us.

I don't know about guesses.
Will try in a few minutes after looking through again...

Yes, where's Claudio when we need him?

Warren maybe for Goodbye.
I don't know. This lot is hard.

Maybe Ant for Sin Sation?
Ant probably wrote two - there's a guess I might get right.  ;)

Btw, you can't confirm or deny.

I think I had a couple of OWC where I got a few good guesses, Claudio seems to have some kind of sixth sense about spotting writers styles.

With a few entries and not much action/description to go on, here are my almost random guesses.

Zack - Goodbye
Anthony - What's your emergency
Gum - SinSation
Claudio - Kittens
Mark Renshaw - The Specimen
J.E Staats - Duty Calls
Dave - Last Call
L.C - Fatal Distraction

These are some sketchy guesses at best

I can tell you with almost 100% certainty that whoever wrote "Thought Police" also wrote "A Fool's Errand"

EDIT: Changed my mind again

Personally, I think Claudio does it by the writers commenting on their own scripts.

I've got Dave down for Fatal Distraction simply because he is that good and that script is going to win.

As for the rest, dunno. I reckon Anthony did a sci-fi one coz he loves his sci-fi like me and it won't have any visual elements in it but I'm stumped.

Usually I can spot one of Paul's scripts fairly easily, but I think he's disguised himself pretty well this go round.

I feel fairly certain Mark Moore (Irish Eyes) is "A Period Piece."
Maybe Matthew for "What's Your Emergency?"
Zack for "Off the Record"
Steven for "Kittens"

I need to think about other guesses.

Only one I'm certain of is Dave for Fatal Distraction. That's a no-brainer.

Oh, and put me down for Gary on Rigatoni. Though, if you told me Last Call, I wouldn't be surprised.

I will be using powers of deduction based on other people's guesses.

Multiple people said Dave for Fatal Distraction but it doesn't feel like his style at all. Warren would know Dave's writing, yet he was the first to guess it.

Therefore, Warren must've written Fatal Distraction and he's covering his tracks.

BUT - Warren and PK are friends, and he also guessed Dave. The only logical conclusion is that Warren and PK both wrote Fatal Distraction as the sole writer team-up.

Also, Professor Plum killed Mr. Boddy in the library with a candlestick.

I feel like that conspiracy guy connecting string to pictures and magazine clippings or something, but there has to be a clue in how some people started with "OVER BLACK" and some didn't.

I'm also thinking eldave for Fatal Distraction.
I'm guessing Ant wrote What's Your Emergency and one more, Specimen?
Gum for Rigatoni Rigamarole?

But, I've never seen all the names like this before, so I think I can piece it together using my trusty spreadsheet...

Khamanna,

"Australian Rules" in this context just means that I keep forgetting that Australia is 12 + or - 2 hours ahead of Eastern Daylight Time, so when I say, we can do something on the 21st and I open it up on the 20th, it's because in Australia it is the 21st and I've neglected to be specific on time zones which every board member from Australia (and New Zealand and my brother-in-law) likes to remind me of.

Dave - Last Call
Paul - Fatal Distraction
John Staats - I Can't Get No Satisfaction
Rene - Desperate Times
Warren - Kittens

Anthony - Goodbye

i'd like to see him write mine. That way I could see what it could be if it reached its full potential.

In fact, that should be the next challenge. Everyone chooses one script for Dave to rewrite.

His best finishing script gets writer's choice and the original writer gets a mug.

I had thought for sure Warren wrote Kittens but his review of his own script changed my mind. I'm basing everything on vague things people said cuz that's what Sherlock Holmes would do.

Other ones:

Matthew Taylor - A Protocol (because he said his script was misunderstood).
Libby - Home Call (she said her script could work as a Calls episode).
Zack - Goodbye (was quiet, means he wrote a great script).
Craig Macken - Whichever script violated a rule (cuz his script violated a rule).
Khamanna - Telling someone "I love you" (cuz she once ate hummus pizza).

We sure are, and it is Australian rules.

Lest we forget.

It would be fun to hear some hints and see if we can guess better

Mine had the sound of something hitting something in response to something else or something like that.  Is that too much of a giveaway?

25th in Blighty now too... patience isn't one of my virtues ;-)

Lest we forget, indeed.

A Jet just did a flypast roaring overhead a few minutes ago. Wow.

Yes. it also didn't have any visuals and was all about the dialog.

You'd better start stomping your feet.
Don's probably watching the tele, just ignoring us.

I personally think this one's hard to crack but it's one of the more entertaining 'Guess Who Wrote What' threads I've read, that's for sure.

They called off Telling Someone I Love You. Either that or the writer didn’t contribute to reading maybe

Good catch. Guessing the writer didn't read the required amount.

Matt says you wrote the Specimen. Warren says Matt knows these things. Libby says it’s Claudio who knows but Claudio is silent. So we listen to Matthew!

Warren - Desperate Times

I can't believe it's not gonna win btw (oh, not win, cos it's not a competition. come first or whatever I mean)

Lol Zack, and did you write A Fool's Errand?

Also, Matt says Libby wrote Fata Distraction. Steven says Claudio looks at the comments. Hey I looked at the comments - Libby didn't comment on that one! Coinsidence.

Come on people. Don wants us to crack it ourselves. Either that or he wants us to pick up a fight here. I don't believe he's just enjoying a TV an having a life

I think I had a couple of OWC where I got a few good guesses, Claudio seems to have some kind of sixth sense about spotting writers styles.

With a few entries and not much action/description to go on, here are my almost random guesses.

Zack - Goodbye
Anthony - What's your emergency
Gum - SinSation
Claudio - Kittens
Mark Renshaw - The Specimen
J.E Staats - Duty Calls
Dave - Last Call
L.C - Fatal Distraction

These are some sketchy guesses at best

I can tell you with almost 100% certainty that whoever wrote "Thought Police" also wrote "A Fool's Errand"

EDIT: Changed my mind again

Quoted from Matthew Taylor
I'm gonna add to my guesses and say Jayrex got in the two entries "Thought Police" and "A Fool's Errand"

Most writers have tells in their writing (format, style choices, sentence structure, word choices), and some I guess based on the story alone. Yours is one of the ones I guess based on story and I was quietly confident you put out a good sci-fi.

Yours is the first I guess as you have a tell... not gonna say what it is incase you change it lol

There should be a prize for most correct guesses. Nothing as prestigious as a mug... a Simply Scripts napkin or something  ;D

I nearly forgot to not comment on so many in a strategic move so I didn't give the game away.

Next time I'm paying more attention.  I can't bear to comment on my own script. I just don't do it well.

Do I have a 'tell', Matt, that you've sussed?
Just curious.
Posted by: Matthew Taylor, April 28th, 2021, 5:23am; Reply: 120
I don't look to see who has/hasn't commented on a script to work out the writer... feels a boring way to guess and time-consuming.

You do have a tell but the tell isn't enough as other writers have the same one, so guessing yours is a combination of if the "tell" is present and the story itself.

Anthony's is strange, I can't put my finger on what it is but as soon as I read it I'm like "Yup, Anthony wrote this"

Warren and Dave are annoyingly hard to guess sometimes.

Some other regulars I haven't sussed what the tell is yet, but I will lol

Every time I do a challenge, I feel like mine's obvious and should be an easy guess.

I usually have good luck guessing Zack's and Paul's entries. Zack's entry this round seemed out of his normal comfort zone but, after the reveal, has many tells.
Posted by: PKCardinal, April 28th, 2021, 12:02pm; Reply: 122
I have several tells. Though, I try and write around them.

Also, I notice certain phrases that I'm obviously comfortable with. I've even caught myself repeating jokes, only adjusted for character/story.
Posted by: AnthonyCawood, April 29th, 2021, 4:37am; Reply: 123
I don't really vary my writing style particularly, but have found (like with this one), that if I move to a genre I rarely write in then it helps disguise it.

I have tried altering fonts, format and even switched to Trelby once... but that doesn't seem to stop Matthew and usually Libby too from spotting mine.

I'm doing it in Word next time.
