looking for info and script of a pacifist movie

Hello…

I need help trying to find info and possibly the script of a feature or film that I once saw as a kid on TV.

It was an American or a Japanese-American movie with a pacifist anti-war message.

Here is the movie's basic plot: during the war between America and Japan, two soldiers on each side find themselves cut off from the rest of the world and the war stranded on a raft or a boat in the middle of the pacific ocean.

The movie is told from the American soldier's perspective.

The movie starts with Japanese airplanes sinking an American war vessel. The American soldier (or sailor) is the only survivor of the attack and swims to a small raft or boat. One of the Japanese airplanes is shot down by the vessel gunfire before it sinks. The Japanese pilot
parachutes and also swims to the raft or bout.

On the boat/raft, there is some food and water supply and essential surviving equipment.
The two young men reach the boat/raft and then at first try to fight and kill each other, and each time the balance swings from one side to the other meanwhile the small boat/raft are drifting towards sea minds or a dangerous place that might destroy it and kill the two men.

The two soldiers suddenly realize that they must stop fighting each other and co-operate with each other to help steer their small raft/bost from sinking; otherwise, they will die.

From that point on, they stop fighting and start to work together… when the raft/boat is finally safe, they decide to not continue to fight but to have a "temporary" Ceasefire between them.

With suspicion, they share the bout food and water supply equally, they mend the treat each other wounds (they are both slightly wounded from the struggle and the fighting), and slowly start to get closer. The American doesn't know Japanese, and the Japanese don't know English. So they teach each other essential words and sentences in English and Japanese. They are stranded in the middle of the pacific ocean, drifting away. They are bored and try to keep each other company trying to tell each other about their home, the place they came from, their families, and loved ones that they miss. They try to pronounce each other's names. they do what they can to help each other survive. – eventually, they become friends.

The ending of the plot: the end is that the Japanese soldier is picked up by a Japanese ship, and the American is picked up by an American one. And neither of them tell anyone about the other.

(possible ending) They both survive the war, and after it, they meet again.

I would appreciate any help in knowing the title or the movie and the possibility of getting the script. I think this is a known and famous anti-war film, and it's also possible it was turned into theater plays and such.
