Stop what you're doing and watch this immediately!

I cant remember the last time I watched a two and a half hour movie and I was completely engaged for two and a half hours.

This is just a masterclass in film making, from the cinematography to the cast to the acting to the score to the CGI... I just loved everything about it and know there will be many more viewings to come.

I'm surprised no one has said anything about it yet.

Dune's apparently doing well, scoring big on Rotten Tomatoes, box office 40million?

Me? I'm a bit meh, take or leave, but that doesn't mean much. These kind of big sprawling SciFi tales often leave me cold. I only ever saw bits of Lynch's version and I confess to looking up the Cliff Notes recently to at least open and refresh my mind, and give it a chance.

Dune is set in the distant future amidst a feudal interstellar society in which various noble houses control planetary fiefs. It tells the story of young Paul Atreides, whose family accepts the stewardship of the planet Arrakis.

Carson's review and feedback from members of Scriptshadow doesn't exactly get me excited but more so confirms doubts I have that I'll find it enjoyable.

I fear style over substance similar to (based on snippets/trailers I've seen) Asimov's Foundation (AppleTV), but I will be watching both.

Hubby will make sure of that! He's excited about both.

Not a sci-fi fan myself, so I won't even bother. But I hope it will be a delight for the long awaiting hardcore fans.

Gonna be checking this one out very soon. I'm not familiar with the source material, but the director is one of the best in the game.

I enjoyed it. It is a little slow at times and often confusing, but it’s a solid hero’s journey. It’s very similar to other epic films. It’s about a reluctant savior learning to believe in himself. My only complaint is that it ends so abruptly.

Off the back of the first Dunes movies which in my opinion was not much of a movie, I was sceptical to watch the release... story-wise that is. Watching it, wow, I really enjoyed it.

Finally sat down and watched this over the weekend and I couldn't agree more with Warren. Totally engaging and beautiful to watch. I never read the series (tried years ago) so I don't know how close to the original story the script. Either way, I'm glad I went into with an open mind. ****

Totally agree Warren, watched it at the weekend on a massive IMAX screen and was blown away by every aspect of it... cannot wait to re-watch and then wait with baited breath for part 2!

I saw this in IMAX and it was an absolute masterwork by Villeneuve. I was worried about all the lore that needed to be covered, but they honed it down to the most important aspects. The special effects were stunning. Watching the city of Arrakeen being demolished was simply thrilling. It’s worth the watch. I believe they green-lit part 2. Good thing, too. If they don’t finish this story folks will riot.
