So, this new film is a direct sequel to the original '74 film. In the time that has passed since those events, Leatherface has given up his murderous ways and has tried to be a "good" person, living quietly with a mother(!?) in a small Texas town. When a group of rich social media-driven young adults comes to gentrify the lower class community, Leatherface is forced to defend his home and once again pick up the saw...

This is gonna be an absolute SHIT show. The original directors were fired after only a couple of weeks of filming. There was also apparently a pretty big script change very late into production. Word is that test screenings have been brutally negative. Legendary dumping the movie onto Netflix pretty much confirms this.  :-/

As a die-hard TCM fan, I'm super bummed with the recent trend of trying to turn Leatherface into an anti-hero. It's just a horrible idea and it needs to stop.

What are your guy's thoughts on this new movie? Looking forward to it?

No interest in this? I don't blame anyone. Lol. But, is anyone actually looking forward to this one? I expect it to be awful, but I can't help but want to see it. Just heard so much about the production troubles. It's amazing this film was actually finished.

In the preview alone there's issues.

How do you stick a chainsaw through the wooden floor when it's not even on?

Did he go green and get an electric chainsaw? What happens when he runs out of extension cord? Did he go with a rechargeable one? Those don't have the same bone cutting power as gas ones.

I see some issues with all this.

I'll still watch it anyway and hope for the best.  ;D

There's 5 billion of these movies and each one is a direct sequel to the original, it seems.

Hope for the best, prepare for the worst. :P

I'm gonna watch it. Maybe we will at least get some solid gore?

It's a weird franchise, for sure. Every new movie is either a reboot, a prequel, or a direct sequel to the original film.

I'm sure we'll get plenty of that!  ;D

Btw, OT, but looking forward to Neil Marshall's latest - he of The Descent fame, one of my fav horror films.

Sounds like a The Descent spinoff...

I'm all for it!

But to be on topic here...I'm probably gonna watch this too. I don't know much about the TCM franchise. But Zack, I did love your script and could see it as a reboot, so I want to see this to see how they take it.

John Larroquette is coming back.

Most exciting thing about this so far, for me.

I've only ever seen the 2003 remake and bits and pieces of the original and 2. I've been meaning to watch the original, but never gotten around to it. Last I knew, it was streaming on Tubi.

Larroquette coming back is just polishing a turd at this point.

Dude... You REALLY need to watch the original. IMO, it's the best horror movie of all time. :)
