The trailer for the new Firestarter movie dropped today and I'm cautiously optimistic. One of my favorite King books for sure, and it has a line of dialogue in it that always gives me chills...

"Burn it down, Charlie. Burn it all down."

King adaptations are unfortunately and generally more bad than good (IMO), but this looks pretty darn good to me. What do you all think?

I really hope they do Salem's Lot justice this year as well.

There's some good things about the 79 version of Salems Lot (miniseries, not edited down version) but I really LOVED the 2005 version.

As for the new Firestarter, The trailer looked good...until "in theatres and Peacock" came up. This day & date streaming stuff has to come to screeching halt.

Well... that happened.

Started watching the new Firestarter last night. I turned it off about a third of the way through after they gave a cat a 'them' pronoun, I wish I was joking.

I decide to try finish it today and did but know I will never get that time back.

Utter garbage. Completely unfaithful remake from someone that seemingly never read the book.

I can't say enough bad things about this. They completely misunderstood and misrepresented the relationships between Charlie and her dad and Charlie and Rainbird.

Oh and Cap is now a black woman, because why the hell not haha

Rubbish!

I can only imagine how bad it is, Waz. I remember watching some of the trailer months ago and knowing it would shite. The book is one of SK’s finest as it’s prolly the first one he wrote that wasn’t really horror. I love the back story in the novel with Andy and his future wife meeting and taking the experimental drugs. The scenes with Andy’s power are even cooler than Charlie’s burning IMO. The 1984 film wasn’t too bad though haven’t seen it for ages.

I wouldn’t have watched this new one anyway even if they hadn’t buggered it but a good warning, Waz!  The Firestarter novel is in my top 5 SK for sure

I watched the trailer and thought, hmm, doesn't look that bad.

And then there was the nuclear bomb line and things started going pear-shaped.

I am so sick of remakes anyway!

They've stuffed up every version of my favourite book: The Stand.
Just let me have the book and use my imagination.

And when you do get it right, leave it be!

To be fair, Lib, the 1994 miniseries of The Stand was pretty good. Not perfect but very watchable

Now they just need to do a proper version of It as a 10 miniseries with unlimited budget and leave it in 1958 and 1985

Okay, thanks for the warninig, scratch this off the 'maybe' list...

I love the original mini-series of Salem's Lot, watched it again last week... i'm an eternal optimist but can't see them getting anywhere close to it, maybe they'll prove me wrong.

I read a review in a Swedish SK group I belong to and I'm afraid it was almost identical to Warren's comment. And, they don't even have a problem with they and them. ;D It's too bad. I don't see why they either make crap like this out of his stories or amazing films like Shawshank, Misery, The Green Mile and such. It's either garbage or excellent, never anything in between that's at least watchable.
