This is (vaguely) inspired by true events (the true events are very clear when you read it). I don’t want to name the event because, in my research, I found that some people search out keyword mentions of the event to comment conspiracy theories about it.

I’d love to know if this is insensitive or in bad taste. I tried not to make it so. In 2021, news circulated about a movie potentially being made about the event and people understandably found it hurtful.

I removed all of the "in media res" prologue stuff and all of the explicit political inserts. Rewrote some scenes based on feedback about Indian culture and language, and Muslim culture. I changed part of the ending to be less violent.
