SimplyScripts Screenwriting Discussion Board  /  My Work In Progress  /  Listing a short movie on IMDB

I wasn't sure where to post this one.
Basically a small team filmed a short horror script of mine a couple of years ago but after a few months they stopped answering any messages. I asked if I could have a link so I could at least put this up on IMDB. I received the short movie on drop box but that was all. As there was no link to anything online IMDB wouldn't allow me to list it.
I know this is a naive question, and the answer is probably "no" but is there any way I would be able to get IMDB to put this up. (I have a copy of the short movie but no link to show for it).

thanks in advance for any advice. I'm sure these film makers have no interest in releasing it themselves,

Put the film on some video hosting platform like Youtube and set it to private, so no one else can see it, then add it to imdb. Give them an access link or set it to public until they approve it. They are quite quick about it these days. Usually less than 24 hrs. :)

Thank you - I've just done this.

I did just get one rejection today though - a script listed as in production that has just been completed (The Last Survivor). I tried to change it to completed by providing the movie link at the director's YouTube channel but the response was "cannot be verified" although the movie is available to anyone.

I know I must be doing something wrong so need to brush up on my IMDB skills

thank you again and for taking the time to reply

IMDb can be a real pain in the arse!

I personally wrote, directed, and produced my own film from start to finish and it took me months upon months to get it verified, I must have been rejected at least 50 times (that's not even an exaggeration). I was sending in invoices to show I had paid the cast and crew, I was sending in screenshots of the credits. The whole thing was a nightmare.

And then you see other films that have a writer attached and that's it.

I don't know what the trick is but if you figure it out, I'd love to know.

I don't know what to say to that. I agree that imdb isn't that user-friendly, but I recently added myself to a short film that someone directed with my permission, but never added me as writer. He added only himself.  >:(   All I did was click on the film's edit button and I filled in the rest of the info. I attached a screenshot of the director's and my messaging where we agreed on the terms. I was added officially about one hour later by imdb.

We are talking about two different things. Yes it's really easy to add yourself to an established title. I'm talking about getting a title on there to begin with.

I know, and I remember you having some trouble with your film. I have added numerous films on imdb and I think it's tedious and not user-friendly, but definitely doable. I don't understand why they won't accept the submission if you can show it to them the film exists somewhere and the credits are on it.

It worked!!!

Can't say it was straightforward though- kept telling me to add information into a text box that never appeared - tried a dozen times and then the last time it popped up and I could do it. It only appeared though when I went back to a page I'd left previously.

I added a poster as well from the movie credit screen shot. That part at least was easy enough.

Thanks again
