While I'm flattered, if bewildered, I'm not really sure what I'm looking at here. I see films with mock posters, synopses and asking prices (or negotiable).

Not had the email Chris but essentially it looks like a scam.

Notice on their website, there is literally no info on who runs the site, or why they think people looking for future scripts would come here to find them. This is stark contrast to Script Revolution, Inktip etc.

They say they are offering this service free for a limited time, so I'm presuming they will charge you later down the line.

The poster aspect is an interesting wrinkle but I'm guessing they are uploading your script details into Midjourney or some other AI based image creator and using that to provide the poster.

I did do a quick Whois lookup on the webiste, and they seem to have bought the website via a company called Domains by Proxy who's tag line is "Your identity is nobody's business but ours." they literally hide who is the actual owner of a website... very suspect!

Oh and the website itself is awful, forgot to mention that!

There was another thread like this earlier. I guess they are still at it.

Yeah, it didn't pass my sniff test. Plus, as a future guild member, I wouldn't want to scab anyway. A lot of these scripts appear to be from the same writers.

It seems this person is copypasting the same email message and just changing the writer's name and picking a random script they wrote once.

There's nothing 'scabing' about listing your scripts on reputable sites like this, Script Revolution etc... you just cannot currently sell or negotiate with WGA signatory production companies - i.e. all the big ones.

Just seen this thread.

I have many scripts posted on Meavia and have recently uploaded a trailer for my screenplay Two Moons, which was produced by them for 20 bucks only. *Cheap at the price for a one minute trailer that explains the whole screenplay in one hit.

It is a free platform, and if they invited you to let them host your work you should feel honored if not grateful. It means they think you have the potential to sell your scripts at a price of your choice if not negotiable.

I haven't witnesses anything such as a scam and I have been posting my work with them for the last three months. Hope this puts your mind to rest.

Glad you are having a decent experience with them Shakespeare, but remains to be seen if a legitimate Producer would visit the site... but whilst still free to list then there's no risk to you.

Just saw that Pia’s “Pet Cam” trailer is up on the Mea Via site. I thought they did a terrific job with it. Hope she will come on and give her opinion on whether she likes it.  Again, the trailers seem to be AI generated but are professional and well done nonetheless. They also seem to be honing the craft with each new trailer a little more fine tuned than the last. I stuck my neck out and ordered a couple. I’ll try and share the links here when they are completed. As I told another member here, they may or may not have sales value, but the entertainment value is high to see what they create for your trailer. $20 won’t buy much of anything anymore. At least with Mea Via it buys a bit of fun.

I did not tell them to put up the Pet-Cam trailer. When they sent me the trailer I said, Awesome! Looks great, or something like that. Did I like it? Well, I think it's rather impressive they did that for $20. Does it represent my script well? No. I honestly think that's almost impossible without having read the script. An old tube TV with a Ring like girl in it? People running around outside? I understand how this can happen though. They can only work with the information you give them. I'm looking into doing a pitch deck or lookbook now instead. Not 100% sure what that is, but...  :)

They just created a poster for my script “Every Time It Snows”. This is a family friendly Christmas story featuring two former veterans and an angel sent to deliver a Christmas miracle. The poster looks like something for an R rated steamy romance LOL. I did ask if they could change it to something a little more appropriate before I get a bad rep as someone who writes soft porn  :o

Just wanted to share my morning laugh.

UPDATE:  Oscar just emailed back and said he would be happy to work up a more appropriate poster. In their favor, they do seem to respond and attempt to make things right and as Pia noted above, they are working with loglines and a synopsis not an entire script, so I’ll give them a little grace.

I've been playing with the Pro version of ChatGPT and getting it to create posters for my most recent scripts so I could add them to Script Revolution, it takes a few attempts sometimes but I think they've come out well.

Couple of examples below... Kathy, happy to try create you one if useful?

Ant, I really love the graphics on both of these - very eye catching. One note, check both for typos. AI is amazing but sometimes gets a B- in spelling. LOL. Very trendy and professional look for your posters though! Thanks for sharing. If Mea Via doesn’t get a satisfactory poster put together, I may take you up on your offer. Thank you!  :)

Yep, you'd think adding actual words would be easy for AI, but seems to be one of the harder tasks for it at present... I usually ask for images without text, but even that (probably as the source is a script) is beyond it sometimes and it adds it anyway ;-)

I used Microsoft Bing for my Pet-Cam poster. I used the prompt, Medium shot of curious orange cat with tiny pet-cam attached to collar looking down scary basement stairs inside old spooky house. It took less than 20 seconds! I'm very happy with it because I feel it represents the script pretty well.  :)

John, I just received an email from Oscar at Mea Via - it was not personally to me but rather a marketing email sent to numerous people I assume.  The email features your review of your experience with Mea Via - which is good marketing for them. However, he credited you as writing “With Love, From Romance”!  I’ll email him to get that corrected as I don’t want you getting a bum rap as a sappy rom-com writer LOL. Just sharing my chuckle of the day.  ;)

I know. I got one too and saw that. Just an error I believe. Oh, and please don't disparage your work. You are an excellent writer with a penchant for storytelling. Btw, I recommend the AI overview. It is incredible how much it will help you to polish your projects.

Good luck.

John, what is the AI overview you speak of?

I will send you one of my scripts coverage. You will see how it works. It is an advanced critique using AI software. Instruction and full diagnosis of your project. Defintely a money saving opportunity for all screenwriters to enhance their skills.

Curious what this can do that ChatGPT can't?

Btw, for me, this whole AI thing has made me lose quite a bit of interest in screenwriting. I tried for so many years to learn how to write and now it seems anyone can write like a pro.

The idea is not to disparage but to enhance your skill set. This software should be used as a tool/accessary, just like any other programme. The difference here is that it is cost affective and thorough.

AI currently struggles to be truly creative, because it is trained on existing work, so it mimics in a middle of the road kinda way. Even if you ask it to review your work you kinda get generic suggestions, but the same could be said of many coverage/reading services with humans involved.

I'm finding it useful for posters on ScriptRev as my visual art skills are poor, but I am fascinated by the technology and where it may go (not surprising given my scripts!)

I have access to ChatGPT pro and the GPTs that people have created - one of which is creative writing based, happy to put a script or two through it for people if they're happy we share on here.

I'll do one of mine and share the output in a separate thread.
