The cryptic message at the top of the Discussion page?

I think I've guessed it.
Has anybody else?

Was the forum hacked or are we in for a raunchy horror OWC?  :o

Haha! Yes, that particular eggplant emoji appears a little weird but it fits with my guess.  :D

By the aubergining of my double thumbs?

By the egg planting of my pollex?

By the cocking of my gesture of approval or encouragement?

I have no idea...

Nope, no cigar, Matthew.
Eggplant is indeed a euphemism.

Am I the only one that gets it, considering all things spooky and Halloween coming up?

I’m messing.

Considering I live in his birthplace, I get it  ;D

Ahh I have an idea for the second line that is equally rude, but I can’t post Emojis on here.

I think I'm well off the mark here but the only thing I can think of is the name of a novel by a very famous British author.

This novel isn't particularly scary though - not quite the Exorcist :)

What inspired the name of the novel though?

Ah, I get it now. Not Agatha but Mr Quote. The second half of the quote. Pretty ingenious actually for the upcoming OWC!

I think I know.   :)

Who thought that emoji looked like an eggplant?  LOL

I see the emoji has been edited. :)

Sounds like a very interesting challenge is cresting the horizon.

I was going to sit the next one out. I just may have to change my mind.

It was an eggplant before… unless I hit the booze too early

Now my guesses above look even more stupid  ;D

Don changed the first emoji - but both the eggplant and cactus  have something in common.

Now that Zack's post is up I can't help myself:

By the pricking of my thumbs,
Something wicked this way comes.

Shakespeare's Macbeth.

'A Drum', as in 'Macbeth doth come', as a teaser for the Halloween OWC used to be posted - just that simple pic of a drum.

Don got adventurous with this emoji riddle.
Loved it!

P.S. Now we just have to decipher Colin's guess. ;D
...Actually I think I get that now.

LC nailed it.  No secret that MacBeth is my favorite play and I have a fondness for witches and had Zack not volunteered to run the Halloween OWC, the theme would have involved witches.

So, head over to the Halloween OwC Theme
