I just wanted to post a thread in memory of all the soldiers who've fought in the wars. I should also add, that they may have bee pilots or marines...
Here in Canada we have a day on November 11 which is dedicated to the memory of the soldier. I would also like to include the memory of anyone else who have fought the good fight. Maybe they weren't fighting a war as we might traditionally think of it. Maybe they fought against cancer, or against some vice. Maybe they fought against fear or depression or some kind of inferiority.
I hope that you can take time tomorrow to remember those who come immediately to mind along with the anonymous soldier-- those who might otherwise be just a lost name on a stone cenotaph.
Blessings to you and yours, for now, and in memory,
IN FLANDERS FIELDS the poppies blow Between the crosses row on row, That mark our place; and in the sky The larks, still bravely singing, fly Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, Loved and were loved, and now we lie In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe: To you from failing hands we throw The torch; be yours to hold it high. If ye break faith with us who die We shall not sleep, though poppies grow In Flanders fields.
