A house coming to life has been done in more than these two examples. I doubt that Sam Raimi watched the Betty Boop cartoon and shouted "Eureka!"

Perhaps. But next time you have a dinner party don't seat the Evil Dead 2 fans next to the Betty Boop fans. It could get nasty.
