A lot of people have been congratulating me in various threads. Rather than hijack other people’s threads, I thought I would go ahead and make a formal announcement.
I got married on April 5th on the Oregon coast at Heceta Head Lighthouse - more specifically at the Heceta Bed & Breakfast. It was originally the light keeper’s house and was later turned into a B&B. We rented the entire house for the weekend.
We chose to have a small wedding with just the very closest friends and relatives. As I learned, the size of your wedding isn’t really all that relative with regard to planning. I foolishly thought a smaller wedding would be much easier to plan. As it turns out, it’s essentially the very same process but just with smaller numbers. Less names to keep up with for the reception but everything else is basically the same.
In any event, I personally planned everything down to breakfast the next morning. And I got in waaaay over my head. So yours truly was terribly stressed for a while. Luckily for me, every single vendor I worked with was totally used to it.
We had been having beautiful weather here and then it rained on my wedding. But it still turned out well. I saw some friends I hadn’t seen in a very long time and we had a blast together.
The wedding went well. The worst part was that I didn’t have an aisle to walk down. My dress had a 19th century look to it and the house was old so I came down a set of stairs rather than the aisle. The idea came from a Gone With The Wind fixation I have. Well, I was so nervous about falling down the stairs that I almost did. Man my shoes were slick. So make a note to yourself if you’re ever planning a wedding. DON’T go down stairs!
By the way, I’d never been so nervous in my whole ******* life. I’ve performed music in front of audiences all over Nashville and I was never as nervous as I was that day. Never. Never ever.
Oh and I got sloshed at the reception.
After it was all over, my new husband - Michael by the way - and I took a coastal road trip. We drove south into California, staying at neat little hotels by the beach along the way. We hung out on beaches and went on safaris and stopped by lighthouses. We were in a new location and on a new adventure every day and I had the time of my life.
…congratulations on your marriage... We have our 24 anniversary later this year! :0
Let me just say wow, and congratulations on your successful marriage. I hope mine is as successful.
I want to thank everyone who’s offered congrats. I sincerely appreciate it.
I should also say that Michael and I bought a house. We decided to buy one that needs a little fixing up because we like the location better than any of the newer ones we looked at. Needless to say, work on the house has turned out to be a much larger task that I initially planned. My vision has always gone far beyond my capability. But we’ll get there.
So as you can see, I’ve been - and still am - very busy. But thank you all for your thoughts and well wishes. And I say that on behalf of both myself and the big guy I keep finding in my bed every night.
Congradulations, Brianne? And if you're still going to use Holifield as a writing alias, you might as well submit something here . Seriously though, much congrats.
Nice one, Breanne. You couldn't have scripted it any better... I take that back. You would do away with the stairs. Anyway, congratulations. And I hope you like Hollywood endings.
Right or wrong, my personal vision of you has always been that you are something of a control freak -- so I found your story very amusing on several levels.
Thanks for sharing. It sounds as if it were marvelous.
Love and happiness rain down on you. How wonderful!
I, and I'm sure others here, would love to see a photo from that day if at all possible...
and as for the shoes hun', you can scuf the bottoms with some sandpaper (they will be less slippery) should you want to wear them again.
Congrats, Cindy
