I used to be a member there years ago. It was a huge place. Always 40-50 members on the forum at all times. It was a LOT bigger than SS and had many industry pros and repped writers. I went there today just out of curiosity and it was dead. One member was there when I went and most threads had not been posted on for days and some even months! It used to be so busy it was hard to keep up with everything. Anyone know what happened? I did notice that in order to read any news articles on the home page, you have to pay 30 bucks/year. Could that be a reason?

Just checked, and it looked like about half the topics on the forum home page had posts that were marked "yesterday" or "today", with others that had December and November dates.

I don't think so, Pia. They've had that for a while. I'm on there at least once a week. It has been slow over there for several months. Not much happening. Screencraft Science Fiction comp. Wish me luck.
Same thing that happened to most writing sites: People realised they couldn't really do anything for them and they all gradually died.
In the earlier days of the internet the Pros thought they could usher in a new er of collaboration and creativity, harnessing the power of all the untapped talent.
The amateurs thought they could learn how to write and break into the Industry.
The reality is that neither of those things happened and everything petered out.
Hm, that's kind of sad. A lot of people on my FB, when I still had an account, were from there. It was THE place back in the day. So, if that's the case, then I'm super happy and proud to be part of SS which is still growing. Different people than there used to be, but still. Love you all...warts and all.
