Family Guy has a movie coming this year, it's a better show. The Simpsons is one show I cannot stand, it's okay but not as great as people make it out to be

They are taking so long because they found who cares about a full length Simpsons, peoplecared for South park and now Family Guy but there isn't no big deal around Simpsons anymore

The Simpsons movie (I believe originally they wanted something in 2006) is about 10 years overdue....They've missed their chance.

Now, Family Guy is different. They are riding high at the moment, and it has actually overtaken The Simpsons in quality for me.

And Family Guy got cancelled, but the fan support was so great that now they're bringing back the show and a film. Those are true fans

The Simpsons are just riding on thier past glory. I have doubts it'll even make it to their 2008 season.

A movie's just a dumb idea.

I heard that they were choosing between a family guy movie or a new season, and obviously they chose the new season.

They chose both it seems, cause the new season starts really soon and than the film is coming sometime this year. That should be good, cartoon movies from Disney are no doubt good (I dont watch them) but they are from Disney.

The Simpsons got as good as they could get in about season 7 or 8. Ever since it's been going downhill. I don't know if it's just me, but the episodes seem to be getting somewhat mean spirited lately. It seems every episode revolves around someone's life being made miserable. The stories are stretched from what seems like about five minutes of content to a 30 minute show. The movie would just be an expanded episode, which isn't a good thing considering how boring and rediculous (and annoying, I'm finding) the regular episodes are.

I just want to reach through the TV and smack them upside the head every ten seconds.

I love The Simpson's, and unlike what all of you have said, I believe they could pull it off if they make it to 2008. I definitly hope so.

Now, Family Guy, that's my all time favorite cartoon and this is the first im hearing of a movie and im more excited now than I was when I heard of a new season after it got cancelled. I'm so happy.... and fairly pretty too...

1. Clerks
2. Mallrats
3. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

Animation movies always take advantage of the size of the screen by adding extra details that they don't need to for a television broadcast.  Of course those extra details add a lot to a television show, but they cost a lot and take a lot of time, and so they save such efforts for big screeen films.  South park is a good example of this.  They produced elaborate musical numbers, and a great battle scene -- not to mention a grand story.  Most episodes of Futurama pushed thee envelope in television animation by bringing CGI that's normally reserved for films to the small screen, for amazing presentations, such as the sequence when Fry played this thig called a "video game."  I think that these so-called "mean spirited" recent episodes of The Simpsons have been among the greatest episodes ever.  They tackle relevant social issues, and they satirise both sides aptly, such as the recent gay marraige episode.  They're  TV's most prolific writing team, they have well-developed charaters already, and they're good at tackling both sides of an issue.  I can't wat to see which issue The Simpsons tackle in thei first -- of hopefully many -- big screen production.

20th Century Fox surprised moviegoers on Friday as the studio included a short teaser for The Simpsons Movie with prints of the anticipated Ice Age: The Meltdown.

The 25-second clip opens with a giant superhero-sized letter "S" while an announcer declares, "Leaping his way onto the silver screen, the greatest hero in American history!" It then cuts to Homer Simpson sitting on his couch in his tighty whities. "I forgot what I was supposed to say," he says. The narrator continues, "'The Simpsons Movie,' coming to the screen, July 27, 2007." "Uh, oh," says Homer, "we better get started."

We're hearing that you'll be able to catch the teaser trailer on TV during this Sunday's episode titled "Million Dollar Abie".

Always, always been a fan of the Simpson's. As canbe expected, its humor is not for everyone, and I've found a lot of people who enjoy regular sitcoms tend to dislike the Simpsons, and vice versa (I being one who dislikes most regular sitcoms).

I will now have something new to look forward to...

I gotta say, I pretty much love everything. Simpsons has been with me through the years so even if it sucked, I'd still switch on, and still see the movie. It's got me through the bad times, been with me through the good times, and been there when I've been blind drunk.

I've still gotta say that Family Guy is much, much better. Let's all sing: ''Here comes Spiderman on the clothesline but his name's not really Peter. It's Spiderman.''

Hmm... I wonder if the Simpsons trailer has anything to do with the Ice Age sequel making 21.7 million dollars in two days and becoming the fifth biggest opening of all time... really.

Anyway. I think a Simpsons Movie is a bad idea. What could they possibly do that they haven't done already? I suppose they could make it even more obscene but The Simpsons have never seemed to focus strictly on obscenity.

The Simpsons Movie Teaser is online. For those of you who didnt catch it tonight, here it is.

In related news, Variety says that executive producer James L. Brooks and his co-conspirators are in the storyboarding stage following two years of script drafts and three covert cast readings.

Simpsons has never sucked.  The series has grown, and always remained fresh.  People keep saying that it started getting worse at a certain point, but they're just wrong.  TV is subjective, but not The Simpsons.  Anyone who ever says anything negative about The Simpsons, is always wrong when they say anything negative about The Simpsons.  There is nothing negative about The Simpsons, and there never will be anything negative about The Simpsons.  Either agree with me, or be wrong.  :p

They call it an opinion for a reason.

I am not a big fan of The Simpsons either. I think they have moments of comedy and some entertaining episodes but the series has had its spotlight and will never grow up.

After all these seasons The Simpsons should have become the flagship in American cartoon comedy but instead it is murdered by silly shows like Family Guy and South Park which have more comedy and value to the average audience.

Someone once said that The Simpsons came at us with smart comedy... Maybe the world stopped caring after so many poor theme episodes (Which I think is what's wrong with the general "series" concept these days.) They have no balls and just stick to the tried and true theme episode after theme episode cliche.

That's an opinion boys and girls. Love it or hate it.

The Simpsons Movie is ~19 years too late. Their humor has been destroyed. They should have made a movie at the 4th season, cancelled at the 6th season and died with alittle humor left in them. Now they're desperate for laughs. The Simpsons is going where Scary Movie 4 went.

I am an ex-con who has grown over the past several years. I hope it shows.

General discussion about The Simpsons is fine, since it’s relevant to the film, but when you guys start picking apart certain episodes, that discussion belongs in the Movie, Television and DVD Reviews board. This isn’t a review board.

A new trailer has appeared in glorious Quicktime format here at:

Say what you will about the newer episodes of The Simpsons, but this looks pretty hilarious. I am first in line come July 27.

I've noticed a lot more vulgar language in some of the new episodes. Now, I'm absolutely hooked on The Simpsons (I'm watching it right now!), but it used to be a show that you could watch with your kids. And I really couldn't have watched some of the new episodes with my kids (if I had any lol). But still, The Simpsons rule, have always ruled and will always rule! And I hope the movie doesn't taint that.

Click the following link for a second international trailer. This does have some footage we've already seen (Homer and the dogs and naked Bart mostly) but it's got some hilarious new stuff mixed in with it. Well worth checking out if you're waiting for this movie like I am:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v.....s%2Ephp%3Fid%3D13911

Hurry up, dunno how long it'll be up there. These things can be somewhat tempramental.
