Michael Mann is reworking his hit television show Miami Vice. Colin Farrell will play Det. James "Sonny" Crockett and Jamie Foxx will play Det. Ricardo Tubbs in the big screen adaptation of hit '80s cop drama.

I remember when Miami Vice first came out and everyone was going crazy over it.  I just sat thtere thinking, WTF?  The show had nothing to it.  It was just another buddy buddy cop show.  It wasn't even written that well; it was just flash

I think the guy that played Tubbs in the series did the voice of Lance in GTA:  Vice City.

I've always loved Michael Mann's work and, as dubious as I was when this was first annouced, I'm really looking forward to it now.

Whilst it does, initially, seem a step backwards, it'll definately be interesting to see what Mann comes up with now, revisiting it so many years down the line... Let's not forget that L.A. Takedown went on to become 'Heat!'

Wasn't Miami Vice like Starsky and Hutch? If they can rework M.V. like they did Starsky and Hutch into sort of like a spoof or comedy, it might be worth seeing.

Miami vice was a buddy-cop show - so in that regards they're similar...

I don't think this movie is supposed to be played for laughs - I certainly hope not... I wouldn't expect it from Michael Mann, he's not a comedic director.

I saw the trailer too at King Kong and a first happened.  The whole theater errupted in laughter.  I have never seen that before.  An audience laughing at a trailer.

Looks like another stupid action/crim film to me...but I'm not really into crime films all together, so it could just be me.

I'll watch it when I get a chance. I remember watching the show in the 80's back to back with the The Twilight Zone. Ahh good times.
I also like Michael Mann's visual story telling ability, no one shoots high concept action quite like he does, very arty, yet very ballsy too.

I agree, Heat had one of the best shoot outs I have ever seen!

Michael Mann is a pretty good director, his Red Dragon was actually the better version in my opinion and his The Last of the Mohicans remake was actually not that bad either although the original was kind of a classic already..

His early T.V. work, most notably Crime Story was very well done and reminded me of Martin Scorcese's Good Fellas and Casino but Mann did this before Scorcese, go figure..

I just hope Mann treats the material with the respect he has done with Heat and the work mentioned above and he'll have another classic on is hands.. Good luck to him. I'll watch this movie if it's done right.. if it ends up crappy like Oceans Eleven and stuff like that then I'll shoot myself!
