Major Spoilers. Scroll down.

I'm sad to say that  Thomas Haden Church  will be playing Chameleon. And their will only be one villain...kinda.

Ready for this? Halfway through the movie, it will be revealed that Thomas Haden Church and Topher Grace are playing the same villain: Chameleon. The baddie will become younger and more dashing in order to woo Mary Jane.

Thanks for the info, but I wish you would have put a spoiler warning.  I sort of walked right into that little twist.

Does anyone know if this site has any credibility because many of the rumours on the net turn out to be false. A few months ago the villain was supposed to be the Sandman.

I never thought they could use the Chameleon when villains like Electro, the Lizard and Venom could be used instead, all of whom would be interesting to see on screen because of their powers and relationship with Peter Parker. I mean, what is the Chameleon all about? Can he do anything else besides morph?

Now I'm confused.  Freeze Dried Movies now reports Grace will play the character of 'Venom', and Haden Church will be playing 'Sandman'.

>

I would prefer the Chameleon rumor to be true. Grace as Venom?????

here is a picture of him. Venom is huge and Grace is the last person who should play the part.

He would be perfect for carnage, but Venom?

raimi says,

"In addition to the ongoing relationship between Peter Parker and M.J., these films are driven by the great actors who have brought our villains to life," Raimi said. "Thomas Haden Church will be a fantastic and challenging new nemesis, and we all look forward to working with him."

Think about that statement for a second.

Has Raimi been pulling that metephorical cloth over all of our eyes all this time?  Has he been the origin of all these nasty Chameleon rumors?  It's not entirely unlikely.  Raimi is even known for toying with his "Evil Dead" crowd every so often as well.  Recently, aintitcool.com ran a quick editorial all about the supposed villians of "Spider-Man 3."  And, after putting together all of the pieces that are already known, something is not adding up.  Check it out:

http://www.aintitcool.com/display.cgi?id=21036

Some interesting ideas indeed.  Has Sam been planning this Venom movie the entire time (he used to always say that he "just never liked the character") or is he just heeding to the fans' wants?  I guess we might just have to wait and see...

I think it's still too early for either on of them villans, myself. I want to see like Kingpin "done right" Electro, Mysterio, Morbius even... Rhyno maybe. Hob Goblin. Scorpion. There are a lot of villans to be seen before Venom or Carnage should make the cut for any spiderman flick.

Vulture too... and what about shockwave or shocker or whatever his name was?

Thomas Haden Church has been cast as the main villain in the movie, He will play Sandman. The character was a prison escapee hiding out at an atomic testing facility when a explosion goes off. His molecules fuse with sand, giving him shape shifting ability along with various other skills.

Topher Grace has been confirmed as starring in Spiderman 3, he will play the second villain in the movie - Venom.

In a recent interview, Kirsten Dunst has apparently slipped up by revealing the villians will in fact be Sandman and Venom with a possible appearance from Hobgoblin (via young Osborne, despite the fact that he became a second Green Goblin in the comics).  Head over to joblo.com for the news:

http://www.joblo.com/index.php?id=8735

My only reservation is the fact that, so far, joblo is the only website that is running the story, which seems odd.  Either everyone else (ign, aintitcool) is having a slow day, or this is still up in the air.  Hopefully, it is the former that is true.

I don't know why I want to see if they can do Venom but I just do. Venom or Mysterio I think would be great villains to have on-screen and suck in a whole new audiance because of the cool factor that they bring along with them.

Frankly I despise Kirsten Dunst as Mary Jane, some would argue she was born to play this role and I wouldn't disagree but she just isn't working for me in the films.

People are getting bored with Spiderman. We've all seen it before. So they are throwing Venom in to make a lot of hype so people don't get bored with the series.

Thats what i think.

I don't see that Topher Grace fits either Venom or Sandman.

Thomas Haden Church will be great, I figure.

Oh, so you've spoken to all people? No, you are bored with Spider-Man. Personally, I enjoyed both films and I'm looking forward to a third.

We've seen it all before? Again, you're speaking for everyone? Introducing Venom is not hype, it's simply taking another step in exploring the Spider-Man mythos. And a logical step too.

I dunno, I made my stand on VENOM a few post back I believe... I don't feel he should be introduced just yet... I see so so many Villians Spiderman should be going up against 1st and he's like the last on the list.

I also don't believe that scrawny ass little punk Topher Grace is even made to play Venom... Hell throw me in as VENOM...

Geeezzee!!

I think they cast these characters by name and not by physical appearence. Such as... FRASIHER playing THE BEAST... who the fuck thought that this would be a good idea? BEAST is a ginat monsterious ... THING! Everything the guy playing him... is not.

We have seen it before, the good guy beats the bad guy yay yay who cares 2 months later until the crappy DVD comes out only to be followed by a better one months later?

Spiderman 1 was okay, Spiderman 2 was the same... Weren't they supposed to make it better? The whole point of having sequels is bigger and better not more of the same stuff rehashed for the same audience who is too stupid to realize they've watched and loved the same film twice.

Andrew is the only smart one who realized what was going on (a smoke and mirror show)

I can't wait for "Spider-Man 3."  I really dug the first one and the second one, to me, was the best super hero film before "Batman Begins" came along.

That being said, I agree with Balt that it may be a bit early for Venom's appearance.  Initially they were saying Thomas Haden Church as The Sandman (perfect!) and Topher Grace as Electro, which I could easily see.  While Church is still set to play Sandman, I really wish a different actor was set for Venom.  Maybe have Electro be in the third and then still have the character of Eddie Brock.  This way, the end could somehow reference Venom for the fourth and then do the same thing with Carnage for the fifth.

But I defiantly wouldn't say people are sick of Spider-Man.  There are just too many plot twists and characters there for it ever to get boring to me (like the clone saga or Carnage saga alone could make up three different movies).

I have to disagree about Kelsey Grammar as Beast though.  He has the perfect voice, and I believe there are options to getting around his personal appearance.  Either a.) have him be a fully CGI creation voiced by Grammar or b.) go the "Hellboy" route and throw on so many prosthetics that the only part you would see is his face.  Then again, maybe it won't matter, as I get the feeling that "X-Men 3" is sort of going to suck complete ass.
