Apart from almost being sick reading this latest news, I cant see this happening.
Although Moustapaha Akkad (the Godfather of the Halloween films) was unfortunatly killed a few days ago, his son I beleive would now be the producer of the movies.
And to cut it short, they have always seen the Freddy and Jason flicks as imitations and irritations. *lol H8?
They even dismissed an apparant Pinhead V Myers film, title Helloween (lol).

The day Michael Myers ends up in some ridiculous "Versus" battle with anyone is the day I die. It wont happen.
Ever.
Please.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Myers has too much class to be involved in this "VS" childish rubbish. Dismiss the Halloween films all you like, but as bad as the sequals are, they have tried to remain somewhat "horrific" excluding part 8.
The fans wouldnt buy this VS crap.

Also this cant happen: Halloween is on Dimension films and Jason and Freddy are on New Line.  Unless Halloween is now up for sale, which I seriously doubt, then this is just complete and utter bull.

Right and what makes Michael Myers any different than all the other horror bad guys who live beyond their welcome?

Freddy has charisma... I don't blame Robert Englund for trying to make money off of gullable teens, frankly he's the smartest one of the bunch.

What makes Myers and the Halloween films different to the Elm Street and Freddy saga is a big gap and any horror fan or fan of these two films can clearly see that.

Halloween is a horror series, and it has never tried to be anything else but that. It primarily sticks to the basics and that is what the fans and most horror fans want to see, which is why most people go and watch them. You know you are going to see a horror film (albeit might be unintenitionally funny but all horror films run that risk.)

Nightmare on Elm Street , is something Im not really a fan of. I like the first film and I do think that Freddy was a great character in that one film. The later sequals made him out to be a witty character and they took the horror pretty much away in doing that. So in my mind, the Freddy films revolve around him and what witty line he is going to come up with next, making them a kind of spoof.
Im not a fan of Freddy at all.

So to put the two films together might sound ok on paper to some deluded teenager that has no idea about the history of the films, but it is impossible to work.
Look at a Freddy V Jason and how awful that was, that took them years to find the right script and it was diabolical!

Freddy might have charisma to people that enjoy the Nightmare films or to people who dont know much about the horror genre.
To me, I think he is an idiot and an embarrasment.

Michael Myers, has been in some awful films (Halloween 5,6, but has a charisma of his own that makes him popular and succesful.
If you dont know, then you dont know.

Thats my rant anyway.

regardless of what these series bring, we can't forget that the sequels are made PRIMARILY for cash. They knew if they were awful they'd still get the money. Freddy may have a character but look at any of the movies did the writers or directors really give a !@#$? in the interviews they act like it, but nope, they did not.
