"Well, this is interesting... a new report over on Variety notes that studios are taking advantage of upcoming significant dates for their horror releases, most noteably Fox's plans to release The Omen 666 on June 6th, 2006.
However, the other studio working to get a film in theaters on a cool date, specifically Friday, October 13th, is New Line. And you know what that means; a 10th Friday the 13th sequel. The only info Variety has on the sequel is that the studio is drafting a script about Jason Vorhees’ origins.
And I have to say it’s about goddamn time. After the massive success of Freddy Vs. Jason, horror fans really expected to see more about the series much sooner than this, but better late than never. I’m sure this means we’ll be hearing about a new Nightmare on Elm Street sequel any day now, as well. Stay tuned!"
Cant say im surprised nor thrilled. I really dislike this new Jason character they have so I wont be shocked if he's sent back in time or some other crap.
I like only a few horror films, and some have never been made ((The Farm!)) though I wish they were. Friday The 13th series has never been among them, nor will this 666 film.
Friday The 13th 11? Oh hell no. I was always a Halloween man myself. As a kid I was memorized by it and I thought Friday The 13th was garbage. Yet I remember when I was a kid / teenager so many people going on about Friday The 13th. I just didn't get it.
How about we have a quick poll? What do people prefer overall, Halloween or Friday The 13th?
I think the whole deal is over done. 10 sequels?!? Holy cow. No movie is good enough to be an eleven part series.
*cough*JamesBond*cough*
That would be 21 "official" films not counting the horrible 1967 spoof, the 1953 TV version of Casino Royale, and the 1983 Sean Connery (failure to) comeback. Any questions?

Oh, and Halloween. After watching the "illegal" cut of 6 some time ago and seeing how it related to 5, they should have stayed wth that plotline. Of course, it was far too deep and cerebral for their target audience...and not to mention Donald Pleasance died which kinda killed it too... I need to drag that out again and watch it.

I didn't think about James Bond. I've never really watched it, though. James Bond can be done more than once, because he's an agent. he can just keep going on missions. But a horror movie...come on! You can only do so much until it just get's old. But, because they can't think of any new ideas and because they don't have any good writers, (because they haven't found this website!) they'll continue to produce this junk.

Yeah, I could totally do a decent sequel to any of these. I love watching sequels and seeing old characters n new situations. Unfortunately, most of them just aren't done very well and the focus is on the gore and not the characters.
And good grief, JesusFreak, you got enough in your sig?
I suppose it is possible to make a decent F13 sequel but that's definitely not happening and besides, one sequel can't save the series. With the exception of the first film, the Friday The 13th series embodies pretty much everything that's wrong with the horror genre today IMO.
As for James Bond, I think they should end the series. Really, what they should've done is made the serious version of Casino Royalle a long time ago with all the other books then ended the series with GoldenEye being the definitive James Bond. I liked Tomorrow Never Dies but GoldenEye was better. It really felt like the ultimate Bond film IMO and I've seen all but three of them.
It has been recently revealed that New Line Cinema is working on a remake of Friday the 13th, not the earlier reported prequel, according to Fangoria. More Info here

Though earth and man are gone, I thought the cube would last forever. I WAS WRONG.
Just had a thought. Maybe this isn't such a bad idea. The movie's going to be bad, of course, but 11 is pretty close to 13. Maybe they could make two more after this and finally end the series. Those ones will be bad too but I think it'd be cool to see 13 Friday The 13th installments, no matter how bad some of them are.
