And the hits just keep on coming!

Word is that a Candyman remake is the works, but instead of keeping in line with the original, there are rumors floating around that Candyman is going to be a white guy.

Brilliant.  I can't wait to see how they shuffle this one around, since the slavery backstory and hanging out in Cabrini Green are pretty much out the window now.

A white guy? That's just a slap in the face. Tony Todd must be furious. What happened to the sequel with Clive Barker attached that ignored the sequels?
Candyman is a really solid film that absolutely still holds up today. There's no way you can make it better. WTF is this BS

Unbelievable.
I really like the first film, not seen in ages but to remake it with this intention is just bizarre.
I can enjoy all three films mainly because of Tony Todd. To not use him is somewhat what Elm Street would be without Robert Englund as Freddy.
Straight to dvd probably but what a slap in the face to the original.

This is going to be a disaster. The original isn't even that old. I mean, it wasn't perfect, but remaking it is just pointless.

The problem with remaking a classic film is even if you succeed in making it "as good as the original" it still won't be classified as good enough, remember Candyman was made in 1992 where are now in 2008.
I will never write it off cause you just never know, but I'm finding it hard to vision how they can make it better than the original apart from todays special effects.

While I wouldn't exactly call this movie a classic, I don't think it should be remade.  And the changes they'll be making is ridiculous.

I rented Candyman last week, just for s&g.  For the genre, it was a good movie and part of the reason why is his origin.

the first candyman is a great flick because it is not just a slasher movie, it has a great Barker story and plot.If they put a white guy in the lead role...Barker will kill himself. It won't happen.
