Looks like we're finally getting news from the (in my opinion) best working director in the world, Paul Thomas Anderson and his next project about a man who founds a religious organisation that begins to catch on in early 1950's America. Philip Seymour Hoffman will star in the film, which Anderson will write/produce/direct (assuming Universal greenlights it.) It looks as though the movie will be a parable of the uprising of Scientology. It'll be interesting to see Anderson covering more period stuff and once again moving outside of his comfort zone of sex, violence and lots of cocaine. Although I have to admit I'm a little bummed out that we're apparently not going to be getting that heavily rumoured P.T. Anderson horror flick that was supposed to be his There Will Be Blood follow-up, at least not for a few years. But any news about what Anderson is doing is exciting to me and I'm already jonesing to see what he comes up with. Variety's story on the film can be found here. |
