If you're going to make a film out of a game, at least make sure it LOOKS good. It's bound to have a rubbish plot - since films and video games are completely different media - but you can at least ensure it's visually interesting (Max Payne being a case in point). Not only does this appear to have a formulaic plot, painful dialogue and pretty atrocious acting, but it also looks really, really cheap. At least TRY to be ambitious!
There is a good side to this though -- at the rate they're going, soon they'll run out of material to adapt and they'll be forced to make... *gasp* -- original projects.
I mean, Tekken? Come on.
This reminds me of those schlocky B "tournament" movies they used to make back in the eighties and nineties.
But seriously, part of me actually wants to watch this. It looks like it takes pride in being camp instead of trying to pass itself up as serious like Chun-Li did -- and that movie ended up being almost as terrible as the '94 Street Fighter flick, which is quite a feat...and not in the good way.
Honestly with the utter shit like Dragonball Z already on the market they can only go up in my eyes.
G.I. Joe was also a pile of shit but at least it has some actors in the film.
I'm not one to judge a film without seeing it (Kevin Smith's Cop Out trailer is weak but I love Kevin Smith so we'll see) and after seeing the straight to DVD poorly acted Smokin' Aces 2 at this point my expectations for movies are so low that it wouldn't surprise me if this was average like pretty much every other film spewed out onto the market.
