The script was really good, I thought. And, it had a couple sequences which I thought Fincher could direct nicely, although I'm not quite sure why he took this, to begin with.
This is the movie I've been looking forward to all year.
A David Fincher-directed, Aaron Sorkin-scripted, Jesse Eisenburg-starring depiction of a band of Harvard students that give birth to, and subsequently seek to destroy each other over, the Internet behemoth that is Facebook? Yes please. Forget about whether you use the website or not, this is the stars and the moon aligning: like Zodiac and Fight Club, this is Fincher exploring obsession and the modern state of man, this is Sorkin writing smart people sounding smart (ala West Wing), and I think Jesse Eisenberg will really shine.
Great trailer. I also started a thread about this, so maybe someone in charge of this gaff can meld the two together.
Eisenberg, Garfield, Timberlake, Minghella (who was strong in one of my faves 'Syriana') and the twin who says "sue him in federal court" all carry something compelling in the trailer.
The script was much better than I expected it to be, Not that I don't like Sorkin (huge West Wing fan) but generally films that are essentially nothing but flashbacks usually turn me off. This one however was very well done, the pace was brilliant and was a great read from start to end.
There is no reason at all why this shouldn't be a great film, I hope it is, the trailer looks good
Have to agree with everyone here, I originally had absolutely no interest in seeing this, even though I'm a Fincher and Trent Reznor fan, but the more and more I see from it I've completely bought into it. It will be interesting to see how audiences respond to this and if it makes a profit.
At first I thought it was too soon to tell this story, but they seem to have hit all the right story points, along with Jesse Eisenberg's North face fleece. And this may be the 1st movie that I can tolerate Justin Timberlake in (beside that one amazing scene in Southland Tales). Nate
I'm totally on board with this. Good cast, good director, sweet soundtrack. Should be good fun.
I can't live the buttoned-down life like you. I want it all. The dizzying highs, the terrifying lows, the creamy middles. Sure, I may offend some of the blue bloods with my cocky stride and musky odors. Oh, I'll never be the darling of the so-called "city fathers," who cluck their tongues, stroke their beards and talk about what's to be done with this Homer Simpson?
