This looks interesting.  Not too certain about some of the casting choices though.

My #1 anticipated film of 2011, tied with David Cronenberg's A Dangerous Method. Yes, I'm a snob.

I'm glad von Trier is continuing what he started with Antichrist, that is to say an acceptance of artifice. That film proved that he's a force to contend with when he's not limiting himself visually. The sci-fi subplot is a little iffy and it seems the main plot is still being kept under lock and key but I have high hopes for this one.

Love Lars von Trier. Great Director.

Like most auteurs, he only tends to make one film...in his case it's usually about a woman being oppressed by a man and he makes that story in different genres each time.

You guys are excited by that trailer?

What are you seeing there that I do not see?  (I mean, aside from Kev going all googly over Ms. Dunst)

I like (some) of his earlier work a great deal -- but this looks like melodramatic mish-mush -- and dull mush at that.

Particularly given the unfortunate choices for music in this trailer.  It sounds like something from the 1940s.

Not sure what they were thinking there.  I suspect a better, recut trailer will emerge for this film.

Hey, it's my tiny, little IMDb!

Nowt to do with the trailer, it's just to do with the fact he's got another film coming out.

Even if he doesn't nail it with his films, he always brings something to the table.

I think Lars von Trier has always produced melodrama to some extent. He's one of the few directors who can do it well. The trailer is, I suppose, for fans of his work. I can't say it'd do much for anyone else. I can totally understand your reaction, Bert.

Indie dramas are hard to cut into trailers as is. Usually, it's just people talking with dramatic music in the background.

i think one of my concerns with this movie (and trailer), is that trier seems to be dabbling in the extra terrestrial. as stated previously stated, von tier produces powerful melodramas. and even though the plot is under wraps, i cant help but raise an eyebrow to the whole "new planet" motif. i'm definitely interested in this, but im also skeptical. this will probably be the first von trier film many people see and i'd hate for him to get criticized by mainstream audiences.

Seems like a pretty strong cast to me. Kirsten Dunst won the Prix d'interprétation féminine (Best Actress Award) at the Cannes Film Festival today.
