Dunno if anyone has seen the trailer for this but it looks kinda promising. I think the found footage craze is becoming tired but this looks ok. I hope it doesn't suck balls. I said to a friend after watching this, 'I was duped into watching a film due to the trailer looking awesome so I'll hold reservations but here's hoping'.
That said, it could be good. I hope it's not just five random stories with no connection to each other and no reasons for any of this happening. I'd like an explanation for at least some of the things happening in the trailer.
Caught this one last night. Pretty disturbing and creepy. Only about three of the five tapes are actually worth seeing, and the framework story about the guys looking for a specific tape didn't make much sense at all.
Even though it could have been better, I still see it as a breath of fresh air for FF films. I'm sick of nothing happening in Paranormal Activity and stuff like that. Think of found footage like a sandwich: Paranormal Activity is the bread, but V/H/S is the MEAT. The amount of boobies on screen is rivaled only by the gallons of blood spilt (a good ratio for a film like this). One of the most violent, disturbing, sexual, and dirty movies I've seen in awhile. It's definitely bringing the horror genre back to its nonsensical roots.
I've read positive things about this for months on various blogs and was really looking forward to seeing it, but this was so disappointing. I love horror anthology flicks and this was right up my alley, but nearly every story here was a waste. For anyone out there, this is on demand now for $8, all movies by Magnolia productions end up on Netflix instant a month or two after they've been in theaters. Save your money, 'cause this definitely isn't worth it and it should be on Netflix instant very soon.
New comedy short, "CRIME SCENE REENACTMENTS." The only TV show that lets actual crime victims reenact the worst moments of their lives for your viewing pleasure.
I'm a big E.G. Comics/Creppshow kinda guy. So, I was stoked by the trailer for this one...
But man, what a slog to get through. I bowed out shortly before the halfway point. This movie soooo did not need to be two hours long. The recurring prologue piece dragged things down even more for me.
I think this and Pi would be a lethal double feature.

LATEST NEWS CineVita Films is producing a short based on my new feature!
Agree with E.D. that it's a long haul, but there are some bright spots. I was especially disappointed that Ti West's entry was relatively weak, but there are some interesting takes on the found footage subgenre. The wraparound is bad, as others have said, but Iw ould say it's worth a look for three of the stories. Anthologies are notoriously uneven, and this is no different, but it's highlights can be pretty nerve-rattling.
