But I cringe every time I see this new breed of 21st century thriller... The situation room sub genre.... Thanks, Jason Bourne.
They by and large seem to me to be a pit of exposition. Big name actors in little room with monitors yelling at everyone.
I'm more than a little tired of this... It'd be fine if they took a page from Apollo 13's book. At least those monitor monkeys had splashes of character.
Still, I hope this is good. Don't like to see female directors fall on their sword. There's too few of them around that the industry will give a big project to.

LATEST NEWS CineVita Films is producing a short based on my new feature!
Hopefully it'll be as intelligent and wide-ranging in scope as Homeland. Homeland has reset the bar on what is essentially a subgenre awaiting a defining movie.
Am I the only one who sees this title and thinks, "Threat Level Midnight"?
Never seen it but assume it had to do with the doomsday clock? This looks really good. Bigelow impressed me with Hurt Locker. Wonder if she had this done before that cat from seal team six released his book about the raid.

If I recall correct, I believe she already talked about this movie only weeks after the actual event. She was just about to start filming a movie based on the Tora Bora siege when the world learned that bin Laden had been killed. The production was shut down and she instead turned her focus to Zero Dark Thirty.

I guess this was inevitable - it was just a case whose hands it fell into - KB's seem to be pretty capable, and looking at the trailers, it seems to have echoes (in style) of HL.
Lots of Brit interest in there - Ricky Sekhon plays BinLaden, and Mark Strong's in there, which to my mind has to lend it some credibility.
Also co-written by Mark Boal - he co-wrote Hurt Locker.
Apart from that - there's no major names - could be a good thing. Bit a must see for me.
I'm not in the military but I heard someone explain it to me before. If I'm wrong, please correct me.
When they set the time for the raid, they called out "Zero Dark Thirty" which Zero would be twelve. Dark would imply night. Thirty is 30 minutes past the hour.
That would make it 12:30AM the raid was set to take place.

Makes sense. Zero Dark Thirty also sounds a helluva lot cooler than saying 12:30AM. From now on whenever anybody ask me for the time I'll be using Mil-Talk.

I was looking through my screenplays and found one with the exact same name. Was very excited until I discovered it was a horror written by a semi-unknown writer.
I've still yet to watch The Hurt Locker but I've heard mixed opinions. TBH, this looks nice but someone mentioned that this was written in less than a month? Not sure what to think though.
