Has anyone received this solicitation?

From the script review on Simply Scripts, it seems as if you have written a great script! Has anyone approached you regarding getting it optioned yet? I ask because I can get it into the hands of Hollywood agents and I am willing to put up my OWN money in order to so. In order to do this, I would need to see script of course. If optioned, I would ask for a piece of option amount as well. Do you have a non-disclosure agreement prepared? Does this arrangement interest you?

Please let me know in the thread.

I haven't, but an immediate reg flag would have gone up.

Just to inform any new writers reading this, you don't have to pay agents to read your script so there's no need for anyone to put up their own money to get a script into the hands of an agent.

Also, scripts that have been reviewed here are generally available for viewing, so this person saw a script review but apparently didn't realize he could have already seen the script.

And I'm not saying this to hurt anyone's feelings, but an option really doesn't mean that much. It's just a tentative agreement someone makes with the intention of selling your script to someone else. Options happen all the time and projects fizzle all the time. Not saying you shouldn't be excited about an option, but I wouldn't get my hopes up too much until a project moves a little further along.

Also, it needs to be clarified exactly what he means by getting "a piece of option amount." If he means he wants a piece of your fee, he's not entitled to that. If he's a producer, he should say so up front, in which case he can negotiate with the seller for his own fee. There's no reason to take a cut of yours.

Also, writers having producers - or whatever this person is claiming to be - sign non-disclosure agreements to read their scripts is not an industry standard.

There's so much wrong with this email. Please be careful.

I did receive this e-mail about a review on STS.
And I concur with Breanne, this looks rather suspect to me.
