It's great to see so many of you chipping in.

Kevin has always tirelessly helped everyone who needed it without asking for anything in return. He's been my go to person for years and we even have co-written on several occasions. One of the nicest persons, to say the least.

And, as always, thank you Don for being so supportive of the members.

Sad news. Good luck with your fight. I recommend you read this book: Biocentrism by Robert Lanza MD. It delves into what the consciousness actually is. Maybe it will empower you, help you stay positive.

Stay strong.

Really love seeing our community come together like this. Thank you for all the donations and positive words. Kevin has read almost everything I've ever written. He took me under his wing when I joined SS years ago and we've been writing buddies every since. Selfless guy that would spend countless hours learning and then give me all his notes... so that I could breeze through the work in comparison. Thank you Don for all the love you give this community! Believing that Kevin will beat this thing. If anybody can, I'd bet on him.

I remember Kevin's short: Scottish Lullaby when he'd first joined the site. Amazing I still remember. And his remarkable talent.

We were chatting once and my touch light went on by itself. Must have been his positive spirit.

Your positivity, Kevin, is something we all admire.

I hope our collective intent keeps you strong.

Sandra

Hi old friends. Thanks so much for your support. I feel a little overwhelmed by that but appreciative. Thank you for the kind words and the donations.

I kind of launched that gofundme prematurely. I sent Dena a link, and things mushroomed. I don't feel comfortable asking for anything. My original idea was to make a blog or something and work for the donations. I realize in the end it was still charity, but it was important to me to feel like I was working for it by writing little stories, editing old work, taking suggestions from people, letting people post some of their own, maybe some of their own cancer stories. Cancer humor welcome!

But I had trouble putting together the blog. Frustrating. Looks like crap.

https://writing-to-save-my-life.blogspot.com/

All I was really hoping for was people to stay stay with me a little, check out some stories, contribute some comments, donate a coffee cup's worth if they thought I was working for it. I know, naive, lol.

But I very much cherish the friendship of Dena and Pia, friendships that have become lifelong now. I am grateful for the support of Don, happy to see Sandra again, she's back! Thanks for your warm wishes.

An update about my situation: I'm ready to fight! I am fully charged from the moment I get up til the moment late at night when I finally sleep. In some ways, I have not felt this good in many years, and that's the truth. Every here knows I love a good brawl! This is the big one!

The good news: my type of lung cancer is eligible for "targeted therapy". The goal with this is to push back the cancer and stop its spread. With most people, it works very well. However, with ALL people, it only works for a limited time...9 months, maybe 2 years. Then it comes back in a form resistant to the drugs.

But they are making rapid advances. So the goal is to survive as long as possible before the cancer begins to march again. If I can get 2 years, that might by me enough time for the next therapy to be available.

So I'm willing to engage in any tactic to maxmize my chances: diet, meditation, whatever. If yodeling works I'll try that!

Now let's talk you: get your screenings. I actually got mine this year: colonoscopy, PSA, skin exam. In my case it didn't catch what I have. In fact, during all that time I had stage iv lung and didn't know it. I've had stage iv at least the last 20 months, so I've already outlived life expectancy. What finally led to the discovery of mine was a bone scan. I've been dealing with pain for 20 months, but I kept trying to work it out at the gym. But in fact I was being covered in bone lesions. I'm lucky I did not break a bone. I was at the gym just 5 weeks ago!

What would have caught mine was a chest x-ray. But I never had a reason to get one.

But you can. I was never a smoker, and I got lung cancer. Get all the recommended screenings, and consider a chest x-ray once a year. Get this thing early. If you think it will never happen to you, we hope. But the world is small. One of my good friends developed the exact same cancer as me only 2 months ago.

Rick, I hope the link works. Click on the story.
Thanks Mark, Jeff, Cindy, Shawn, Reef. Love you guys.
Dustin, looks like we'll never get to have that pub brawl! My fighting days are over. Too many lesions on the bones. But I do know of Dr Lanza's work. I've listened to him lecture and in fact he's from my area. Very interesting. But I am not planning on testing his theory anytime soon! Ok, be good, thanks.

Hello, Kevin. I'm so sorry it took me so long to notice this! I have donated. Cancer runs on both sides of my family so this is something I really want to help with. Best of luck with your fight! You got this.

Thanks very much. Julian, you are a rare human being. I hope the cancer bug avoids your family now for many years, and by that time there will be many cures. I believe science is on the cusp. My disease is technically incurable and they call the treatments "palliative care". Bull shit. I intend to survive long enough that they reach a cure, or something similar! Too much for me to do!

Have you considered looking into cannabis oil? You would be best with full spec. It is known to shrink and even eradicate tumours in a lot of cancers. People have had weeks to live and made full recoveries from things like bladder and brain cancer.

Stay strong.

Kevin, I hope you pull through and I suggest you watch the documentary 'What the Health' on Netflix to help inspire you to make the greatest lifestyle change any person could make to better their health, which is going vegan. If you start the doc, and find you don't like or trust the information being presented to you, please stick with it, because a vegan diet is known to also reverse and prevent not just cancer, but heart disease too, which is the planet's number one killer of people.

Plus, you'd be improving your overall health and also improving the welfare of our planet.
