Is this by any chance part of an effort to set up a search page? Cuz I remember there was a director awhile back looking for a specific type of script (comedy with a female lead). I then scared her away with my intense Buffy fandom... but maybe if there was a search function where producers could input specific things they're looking for in a script and it would spit out a list of all relevant ones.

Something like what the Blklist and CJ's Script Revolution has. I have no idea how much time and effort that would take to set up. Probably an insane amount. But that would be my humble suggestion.

That rug really tied the room together.

Personal opinions only...

1) I wouldn't specify a price for the script, could limit negotiations or potentially prevent enquiries.
2) Author biog?

I'll keep thinking...

How about a short opinion from reader(s) about the script?

Short answer - Yes.  I'm looking at what a filmmaker may be searching for, but also trying to make it easy for a writer to get a script up.  One could do the option of getting just the script basics up and later fleshing out more detail later.

I, too, am not sure the amount of effort.  I am trying to first plan out what I (and the communities) want and in what priority, and then try to figure out how to build it.

Dave is happy. what I was thinking was having the top 10 to 15 genres and then the option of opening a window to include sub genres. I've spoken to a number of filmmakers looking for scripts who were more concerned about cast, location and sets than genre.

1. Good idea. Or, I could leave that as an option, either "For Sale" or "For Sale for X"
2. The intent was that AuthorPageURL would go to an Author page (to be outlined later) that would allow the Author to list all scripts, bio, pic, website, social media, contact info.  I also want to be able to 'hide' the author email address using a form to mail to prevent spammers from harvesting email addresses.

Great idea.  I was hoping to cover that under either 'awards' or 'coverage'.  Perhaps "Press" as an option.

Keep 'em coming.

Hey Don! Your list is fine by me. No need to change anything. Here are some ideas. Like them, use them.

Instead of Rom/Com as genre do it as GENRE1 as COMEDY and GENRE2 as ROMANCE. Keeps it simple and avoids /s.

Page length is best as numeric count, labels are redundant

Available could be simple Y or N; contact the author with questions

Add a key word field for multiple tags

No one should see review notes cause they are interim creative process

Author should be listed at the bottom as contact for all inquiries

Budgets should be situation based not cash (keeps us out of the estimating $ business)

LOW             Single setting, minimal props, cast of 3 or less, no FX
MEDIUM     Two to three setting, some props, cast of 5 or so, small amount of FX,
LARGE     Five or more settings, props, cast of 7 or so, FX
XLARGE     Seven or more complex settings, costumes; cast of 10+, FX everywhere

Production notes can go a long way towards helping users estimate budget

Let me know if I wasn't clear on something,

Gary

Hey Don -

Another thought (and yes, I'm biased... but...)

I think there's a bit of confusion as to submitting to the discussion board, vs. STS reviews.  Here are two little doo-hickeys that might be a good idea:

- Either a big ole button for STS.

OR - even better - what if there was a "recommend for STS" button available in each thread?  That way, if someone reads an awesome script... it's an easy-peasy way to try to see it get more exposure.  (That is, if it doesn't get abused...)  )

PS: Yep, search additions are amazingly nifty, too.
