Some of you may have been around for long enough to remember the online screenwriting magazine Voice Over that I ran for a few years. For those that do, I deeply apologize: in hindsight, it wasn't very good.
But it did generate some interest and a pretty respectable readership. In the end, it died away because my career took off as a broadcaster and I laid most of my screenwriting relates activities to rest.
However, I am making my return to fold with a ventange and reviving the online magazine is something I'm looking forward to as well. Voice Over was fortunate enough to have SimplyScripts as its host site and Don has indicated that the revived magazine would be a part of the site as well.
So, here's the plan: I intend to make an online magazine directly aimed at us: The aspiring writers, the hobbyists, the beginners, the indies. It won't try to emulate one of the excellent professional magazines, because it would cover a completely different beat to a completely different audience.
The current plan is that I would have a text-only version of it, like I did back in the day and it would be delivered via email. But as opposed to the original version, there would also be a high quality PDF version available for download for better reading experience. I'd also probably make an ePub version so that you can read it with your eReader of choice.
But I don't want to do it alone. This is an open call for anyone and everyone who would be interested in joining the effort. I particularly would like regular writers, but all kinds of help would be more than helpful. I'm ready to do the heavy lifting, but it would be better for the magazine if it had content from several contributors.
The last time I just put it together as a heat of the moment kind of an idea. This time I want to do it right and put some effort into developing it as well. So if you're interested in joining the effort, you could also help shape what this would eventually become.
So, if you're interested in giving a hand, my contact information is listed in my profile. I'm looking forward to hearing from you.
That just leaves us the biggest question: Would anybody be interested in reading such a thing? It remains to be seen.

This was before even my time -- and that is saying something.
But if you have Don's blessing, it seems like a worthy experiment.
What sorts of content do you envision? Will you assign content or ask that contributors devise something on their own for your approval? And how often are you planning to release content?
I would step forward tentatively as a contributor, but would also like to learn more. I do have a bit of experience in publications.
The recent thread I wrote about my experiences with production of my scripts is one good example of the kind of content. I'd definitely have articles like that. Then there would be interviews, software reviews (usually for cheaper alternatives to FD or MMS), script reviews and column(s).
Will you assign content or ask that contributors devise something on their own for your approval?
Most likely a bit of both. The contributors would have very free reign to pitch ideas, but I might also assign something if there's something that really should be covered but I can't do it.
And how often are you planning to release content?
Originally I released 4 times a year, but I don't want to commit to anything yet. We'll have to see how many people are willing to contribute regularly and what the reception to it is.

That looks kind of cool Henrik. I'm sure you'll find lots of folks here interested in helping.
Though I might suggest, instead of treating it as a quarterly publication, it might increase the web presence if it were a secondary blog off the main page. This way it can be updated more frequently and therefore have the opportunity to gain more of a following.
But that's just a suggestion to update to concept for the current times. Good luck with Voice over and I'll be sure to read it.
I am aware that a blog would be a more contemporary solution for what I'm trying to do, but I'd really like to make this more of a sit-down experience. Something you download to your device and settle to read. That's why I'm planning to put really a lot of effort into the ePub and PDF versions for people to read on tablets and eReaders.
