Hello everyone,
I am glad I found this site.  I've always had an interest in writing and in movie making and as you can tell by my user name, I enjoy songwriting as well.  I'm just learning the ins and outs of script writing so I don't actually have a script to submit.  Yet.

So far I have read a couple of the unproduced scripts (enjoyed them a lot and learned a lot from them too) plus I have read just about every post on the first 3 pages of the "Screen Writing Class" trying to learn as much as I could about the whole process.  I knew that at some point I had to stop reading what to do and get busy on the "doing" so I downloaded Celtx and started hacking away at my first screen play.  Everything that I have learned from you guys so far is starting to sink in and is really helping me a lot.  But I have a long way to go so needless to say I will be back with questions :)

Outside of learning script writing I am a songwriter.  One of my songs was published in a local magazine as the featured song and another song I co-wrote has received radio play in the United States.  I also wrote a weekly newspaper column for a while (on recording and songwriting) and I am in the process of building a new recording studio.

I've always enjoyed the whole movie making process - from framing the shots, to editing, sound design and so on but without a script I couldn't really persue it.  When I first found the section on unpublished scripts I was hoping to find a short script to shoot but instead I found a place that helped me put my own ideas down in an organized way so I could actually write my own movie.  And, for that, I thank you.

Chat soon,
Kenn

Howdy Kenn,

Nice intro!  Indeed, there many useful resources available on the site that have helped us all at one point or another.  Hope you stick around and keep it real!

What kind of music do you write?

Be excellent to each other

Mostly country/folk. Lots of Ballads. Some older style rock and roll.
I listen to just about everything, but my writing style is mostly country.

Welcome my Canadian brother. Good luck on your quest for writing that one great script.

Here is a link from the main page that may help you.

http://www.simplyscripts.com/WR_resource.html

Thats a resource Don has put in place for various writing terms and or formats. Looks helpful for one not knowing a lot.

I wish you luck and say welcome...

Welcome to S.S.

Another Canadian on board too, which is good.

Enjoy your time here and have fun. Read scripts, comment and you'll quickly learn a lot about the process.

Hi Kenn,

Welcome! I joined up a few weeks ago.
It takes a while to get the hang of this site but it's great.

Enjoy!
