Hi, I just found this forum and thought I would post. I like what I see here but I'm not sure how to post a script. Can I post Movie Magic (.scw) or do I need to convert it to something else?
I wrote a script called "21st Century Kids" based from Shannon Vyff's book. I did the writing and Shannon did the editing.
The story is about two children who die in an auto accident and are cryo-suspendend for two hundred years, and become transhumans. They go to a special school, use nanotechology, have dolphin friends, upload into robot bodies, search other planets for their clones, while aliens are trying to erase their memories. It's a fun adventure for children.
I got a WGAE registration and we are looking to sell the script. I started writing the script last April and just finished it about two weeks ago. This is my first script so I'm not sure what the next step should be. I made several copies and pasted it out.
You can upload an scw file, but you're much better off uploading a pdf, doc, or some other text format to ensure the most reads possible, since a lot of people don't have MMS.
To help yourself along in selling it, start querying. Whether it be agents or production companies looking for a script similar to yours, do what you can to get it out there. Me personally, I'd just go with the production company route. An agent may read it and ask "What else have you got?" and you won't be able to provide anything since this is your first script.
I'd post it in HTML and honestly, I'd wait for some reads before just sending it off. I mean to be honest, if this is you're first script it won't be your best. Unless you're some kind of prodigy and very few people are. I mean you may have a fantastic script, the plot is interesting to say the least. But this site is best utilized for help.
I'm not trying to make this a pitch for SS, but it is one of the best sites for writing help I've seen.
Sounds like a great endeavor, but I probably wouldn't watch it.
I agree it may not be for everyone. There are several transhuman movies planed or being made. It is a new type of science fiction with the possibly of being real. Some of the stories are very dark, with technology running out of control, while others may give an unrealistic view of a perfect paradise. I look for balance between the good and the bad.
