That script left an imprint on me, no doubt. I still remember most of it vividly... years later. Definitely worth a look, very imaginative world the author creates.
Agree with Bert, you're either gonna love it or hate it.
Went through the first thirty pages this morning... And I'm digging the story so far. I like the world. It's different enough. But has that gaslight vibe and Jack the Ripper dread aplenty.
I like Philo and his secret. But I didn't care for how Tourmaline's fate was handled. Good that her and Philo fought before... However, I felt NOT showing her fate while Philo was feeling remorse was a mistake. His anger pushes him out the door... I wanted to feel for him. I wanted to see his regret while Tourmaline suffered alone.
Other than that, I'm all in on this script so far. Seems to be some rather polarizing pages.
Looking forward to other wading in!

I think it was the kid's first script. And I think he's gotten plenty of work out of it, even though this one was never produced. I'm going on memory on this, so someone correct me if wrong.
I have to admit I was not as thrilled about the script as most people. I'll leave it at that, since I read this over a year ago
I'm really not sure what to say. Part of me says I liked it while the other part of me says I hated it. If it wasn't for the supernatural/fantasy take, I probably would have hated it. Going against the popular opinion here but for me, it just fell apart in the third act. Everything got so ridiculous.
And the names! One of the most annoying things about the script. Somewhere in the first 25 pages, I just started skimming them. Don't think there was one name that was less than 8 letters and not something that sounds like a greek god.
But I look forward to see how this turns out. The visuals are amazing though.
Have to say the wheels have started coming off this story for me. Pages 45 - 65 were not nearly as easy a read.
The disconnect... Philo going on the run with Vignette. I just didn't believe that it was necessary.
Why not try to explain yourselves? Vignette doesn't care for Philo, would be some needed comic relief. Bottom doesn't buy it and our protag has to think fast. Which makes for a more dynamic scene than the tub.
Philo too easily buys into red herrings for me. Suppose that would be more acceptable if he was more of a drug addict.
But still, I'm enjoying the whodunit tale quite a bit overall.

And boy, was I disappointed in the third act. It felt so formulaic, all the character development stopped. Felt like once exposition gushing scene after another...
Go to point A... Learn about Point B... go to Point B.... Learn about point C... Wash. Rinse. Repeat until plot is complete.
I guess the conclusion felt so linear, in glaring contrast to the first half. Wanted to see what personal issue they would have to overcome to prevail. Anything to personalize the events would've hooked me.
Still, a pretty stand out tale that I'm sure resulted in some tasty assignments. I know Clash of the Titans was one of them.

You say that like it's a bad thing, ED.
Where do you think those additional writing jobs came from, anyway?
That is (half) joking, of course. Sad truth is he probably had to make a few concessions if this ever hoped to see the light of day -- and I'll bet he knew that.
While I really like this script, I do acknowledge the flaws here, and covered most of mine in the Script Club discussion.
I wish that the protagonist were less bland, and that the script had gone even darker than it did.
Still top-notch work in my book, though. Somewhere in the Top 10, for sure.
