DARIO ARGENTO's last horror film or so they say... he's lookin' pretty shabby now and he never was good at speakin' english so well... but if George Romero can get a 20 million to 30 million dollar budget for LOTD... I don't see why the Italian Hitchcock couldn't do the same.

Anyways... on with the on.

This is one of my favorite slasher films of all times... it was made in 2000 early 2001 and is just stunning from the word go.  ARGENTO impresses me most with his lust for RED and Dark backdrops... I'm a hardcore gore fan... I am, I've seen them all and if I haven't, I'll still call you a liar, LOL~

This is one of the smartest movies ever in the sense it tricks you into believe multiple thoughts all at once... who is the DWARF killer?  That's the question you'll ask yourself thru every gory, gruesome, bloody, finger nail spliting, head lopping, flute face smashing --

Which by the way is the most horrific scenes ever created in a movie... this scene made my ex get up and leave the room... she was very shaken about this scene and refused to watch any horror movie with me after that... I sometimes think this is what lead to our demise, LOL

So plot is what you want, not me rambling on and on and on...

It's about a legend. A DWARF killer... it sounds strange, but wait til you see it... it's nothing short of amazing. Argento crafts a brilliant almost... documentary type movie out of a deep and twisted story here.

The murders take place in and around a book of old childrens tales... each tale is a clue to a bigger riddle... the cat who came home... the goat and the farmer... just really cool stuff in here.  So thruout the course of the movie we, the viewers, are almost detectives right along with the cast... it's brilliant stuff.

I warn you... it can be very violent -- well, hell, it's DARIO ARGENTO what do you expect?  It sometimes doesn't blend so well with the american stupid ass cheeseball voice actors they have dubbing the lips syncs... we always get it wrong.

But if you can get thru the violence and the flute scene and the terrible at times V.O.'s -- you will be laid privy to one of the, if not the, best horror, slasher films of our generation and the next.  It's a fantastic piece and one hell of a way for DARIO ARGENTO to end his brilliant horror story life.

From the man who brought us great films such as -

Deep Red
Suspria
Phenomina
Demons - presented
Demons 2 - presented
DAWN OF THE DEAD - Italian cut ZOMBIE
Phantom of the opera
Opera
Tenebre

and so so so many others... he's truly a master and a brilliant director and writer... he is and this movie is a must see for any into shock gore and incredible twist.

The new movie "SAW" took a lot from this movie in a lot of ways... but that's always the case with the Itlaian movies... america will strip mine them to hell and back because they think most American's haven't been subjected to what they have and thus... steal it and pawn it off as new cutting edge creations.  I say WTFE...

Go check this movie out, please...

10 out of 10

C.K.

good thoughts~
