Don't know what to say about this one... Did you know, as big of a horror fan that I am, I just watched this lastnight for the 1st time? This much is true. There is a reason, however, that being I boycotted it way back when and swore I'd never watch it. The concept was such ass. The movie looked like ass in the articles I read about it and it got even worse reviews from most everyone who did see it and there wasn't may who did see it, given it's total gross at the box office... LOL!

Anyways --

Here is a movie that ask us to... forget. Forget what you know. Forget what you saw. Forget what you will see. It establishes all of this... why? Cause they simply didn't and don't know what to do with this tired, unexciting, boring franchise anymore... So some ad wizard in the PR department was like -- Hey some fan wrote this script about Jason and it's of him in space. --

They lapped it up and the pile of dog shit we got was just as I predicted so many years ago when it came out... just that. DOG SHIT!

Jason, for some reason, has hair now. His head has shrunk a bit and he's not as decayed as before... I don't know why this is. Oh, he's still good' ol KANE HODDER, which was the only decent part of this movie... but still, even he couldn't save this terrible mess.

The death toll in this one is high and that was good... cause everyone in the movie sucked! I wanted them all to die. Everyone of them. I don't remember a horror movie in past or present where I simply hated everyone... not until this piece of work.

None of them had substance and if they did have a little bit it was only because they even knew how bad the movie is and felt the need to not look happy to be on the set doing this joke.

The Android girl, being the worst bit of the movie. She wasn't funny. She wasn't tough. She was a friggin' tool! Then the movie gets really lame, after he kills everyone, he gets rebuilt into a... a... like ROBO JASON... it's got to be seen to be believed. It's just... I don't even know... my god it was gay. It was the most ridicules thing I think I've ever seen on a horror movie.

In the end... these 3 people skim by death more than a long tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs MEOWS.

Oh and the end... LOL! Oh boy... Yeah, the end is really something... Not only do JASON and this BLACK GUY survive a massive explosion in space they both fall to LOL! "EARTH 2??" thru the ozone layer and all... LOL!

It's just bad... It's so bad it's not even fun to laugh at cause these people really made this movie... and that's sad. I feel bad for these people cause they actually think or thought it was a good idea.

0 out of 5: Not one good thing about this movie can be said. It was a pile of shit on the bottom of a cats paw. If you have this movie, burn it. If you are thinking of picking it up at Wal-mart cause you saw it for 5.50, don't!

I have to agree with you Balt...but I admit to owning a copy to "complete" the Jason collection.
Which, at times, I wonder why I bothered considering the last three have no continuity whatsoever. Not that Im saying any of the rest did, but at least they had the decency to follow on from the previous films ending.

I am a fan of the Friday The 13th series. They are not masterclasses in horror and they really don't hide the fact. But I have enjoyed watching Jason cut his way through pointless characters since I was a kid, and I still do now.
But, as soon as Paramount sold the rights to New Line after part 8 the series stooped to an all time low, even for a fan like me.

Part 9, or "Jason Goes To Hell" is probably even worse then this...But then at least Jason didnt turn in the Terminator in that one. No, he was too busy swapping bodies back then. I still dont know what the hell that was all about.

Then there was this. "JASONX".

I remember reading about this idea to send Jason off into space on the Friday website and the film was still made despite almost the entire fan message board being clogged with disapproval.
Sure, they tried to do something slightly different, but I would have gone for the old routine any time over this disaster.

I agree with everything you've posted, Balt so I really dont need to add too much more.
There was a point in the film I was trying hard to force myslef to like it, and up until Jason turned into some Terminator rip off, I thought the Jason character himself was'nt too bad. In fact, he probably was the best character in the whole film which dosent really look too good on the rest of the cast.

But that...oh. That sucked the most.

As for the ending. Well, thankfully you were able to comment on that Balt because I think Im still struggling to beleive the idea that they came out with.

I would give this 2/5. Purely for the extras on the DVD and some of the murder scenes which were reasonable. Some of the dialouge makes me chuckle a little, but probably not in the way the film makers intended it to.

At least it couldnt get any worse...then came "Freddy Vs Jason". DOH!

I know this review is very, very, very, very late but I only recently saw the movie again so I hunted down this thread. I was about to start a new one but then I found this one so I'll just post my comments here.

I agree that this film is really, really poorly made but I have the complete Friday the 13th collection as well, and this one fits into that category. And, unlike Scoob, I actually thought Freddy vs. Jason was good. Well by good, I mean bad, but it was almost bordering on an average movie, not a "good for a Jason serial killer" movie.

Anyway, there is almost nothing good to say about this movie. I did like a few things. Such as the guy falling onto that giant drill bit looking thing and then that woman saying "He's screwed". I laughed and I felt appropriately guilty afterwards I have to say, but I am a stable enough person to admit that. At least, I think I am. Hmmmmm.....

Anyway, the idea of Jason in the future obviously comes from the writers not really being able to come up with anything more interesting to do in the present, so they just shot him through time a couple of hundred years. And, ain't it amazing, the teenagers of the future are just as sex-crazed, drug-abused and stupid as the teens of the present. Coincidence? I think not. Kane Hodder makes an effective, if not slightly more ludacris Jason than usual, the rest of the performances suck beyond belief, but that is to be expected. I don't think that anyone going into this movie as expecting high art or good performances.

To wrap things up, this is the worst Friday the 13th movie but I have to admit that I do get a guilty pleasure out of popping this in the old DVD player and giving it a spin ever once in a while. It's no better or worse than some of the other F13 movies of the past twenty-seven or so years. There were some moments on par with what we've seen before and there were also scenes so absolutely over the top that no one could help but roll their eyes and groan. I certainly had a few laughs at this movies expense, but there was that cool moment where Jason grabs the girl's head, freezes her face in liquid nitrogen and then smashes it against a bench. NOW THAT IS A KILL.

Overall: * 1/2 out of *****

And again, sorry for the delay of this review, but I only saw the film for the first time in years today.

Cheers, Chismeister.
