I cannot believe nobody has reviewed this film almost as if it went under the radar, being Nicolas Cage and all I'm surprised.

This film charts the rise and fall of Yuri Orlov (Nicolas Cage) from his early days in the early 1980s in Little Odessa, selling guns to mobsters in his local neighbourhood, through to his ascension through the decade of excess and indulgence into the early 90s, where he forms a business partnership with an African warlord and his psychotic son. The film also charts his relationship through the years with his younger brother, his marriage to a famous model, his relentless pursuit by a determined federal agent and his inner demons that sway between his drive for success and the immorality of what he does.

A little bit of an outline I found if you don't know what the film is about. Look if you like Nicolas Cage you'll love this film. He spends half the time narrating it and well I really enjoy listening to this guy talk.

Much like Bruce Willis I have a respect for this guy as an actor that is second to no one and I think that says a lot about him.

One of the best parts of this film is Eamonn Walker who was in Oz, one of my favorite shows of the past 10 years. His character is great and he plays it with such a passion that he even creeps me out a little, as well as the guy who plays his son (He wants the gun of Rambo from the film and eventually gets it ha-ha)

One reviewer said the message of this film was "Guns are bad" and yes that is the message but I feel as entertainment and giving the message a brutal meaning it just says if you're going to be evil, at least be the kind of evil that kills other evil.

When we start taking too much from our entertainment we become shallow idiots so let's not do that. It's fun, it's violent, it's every thing an action/drama should be and I loved it.

8 out of 10 - I have yet to watch the DVD features and the commentary on the 2 Disc set so I'll get back to you on that.

Thanks for reading.

Well I saw the add and it the preview was very well done. Except they didn't promote it well when it came out. I was disappointed because it stopped playing at the theaters near me very quickly and that's when I realized it was out.

If it's out on DVD I'm going to check it out ASAP.

I never liked Nicolas Cage, but some of his films are really good, this is one of them.
Great intro, the cam follows a bullet from beginning to the end, and that's literal.
Jared Leto was in drug character again, but he had a good scene in the end.
Lovely lady, Fontaine was it? She was hot! So were those two ladies Orlov got offered by Andy
The story was good and generally the truth, all in all a nice action packed movie with a lot of disturbed and hard reality.
