I don't write too many of these, but this one seems to be getting overlooked with the new one out there from M. Shamalamadingdong.

The kids drug me to this today and man, was I pleasantly surprised.  This is a really great movie!  The gist:  Three kids investigate a haunted house across the street and the house is actually a monster.  I mean, the house itself is alive.  It's a character in the story -- and it is frightening and funny and smart -- all without saying a word.

The dialogue was great, with some top-notch voice talent (standouts are Steve Buscemi and Jon Heder).  The kids are not lame at all (for a change) and they act very real.  The animation is fantastic, with plenty of "show-off" moments for those who like to look for such things in an animated film.

When the house comes "alive", the story really takes off.  Some of the action near the end was a little over the top for me, but the kids didn't mind at all.  There were some parts that were actually kind of scary, too -- but fun-scary -- nothing to give the kids nightmares.

Me and the kids both thought this was a better movie than "Superman Returns".

You might look kinda' weird going to this one without a kid in tow -- but if you have access to one, take 'em! -- otherwise, be sure to give it a look when it comes out on DVD -- right around Halloween, I'll bet.

Hey, it's my tiny, little IMDb!

this was done with motion capture like they did for King Kong with Andy Serkis.

Anyway, my brother wants to check this out so I may go see it. I'm just trying to hold back the excitement of Eragon (December) and World Trade Center (August). Can't wait to see both!

Just saw this and thought it was great. I wasn't going there to see this, but to see "Ant Bully." But that was sold out. So I went to see this.

The dialogue was hilarious as crap. Some of the stuff Chowder did was awesome as crap.

This movie, while the actual human models looked a little weird, is up to the standard.
